Anthropic's new AI-clawed mythos got leaked and what's inside is going to change how you think about where AI is heading. Nobody announced this, no press release, no countdown timer, no Dario Amodi on stage with a slide deck doing the big reveal here. Instead, a couple of cyber security researchers were poking around the internet and stumbled onto something they were never supposed to find. Nearly 3,000 unpublished files sitting in a publicly searchable database wide open for anyone to find if they knew where to look.

And buried inside those files, a draft blog post describing what Anthropic calls, and I'm quoting this directly, by far the most powerful AI model we've ever developed. That model is Clawed Mythos. Now, the reason Anthropic hasn't released it to the public yet is because they're genuinely scared of it. And I want to talk you through exactly what got leaked, what it actually means, and most importantly, what this tells you about where your business needs to be in the next 12 to 6 months.

Because this goes way deeper than a company forgetting to lock a file. Let me start with who Anthropic is quickly because it makes the story land differently. Anthropic is the AI safety company. That's their brand.

Their whole positioning. They publish detailed safety talks. They talk about responsible AI development more loudly and consistently than anyone else in the industry. Their founders left OpenAI specifically because they wanted to build things more carefully.

And they just accidentally left 3,000 internal files sitting in a public database because someone forgot to change a setting toggle. But that irony isn't the real story. What was inside those files? That's the story.

Right now, Anthropic sells three tiers of Clawed. You've got Haiku, which is small, fast, and cheap. You've got Sonnet, mid-range, and the one that most people are using every day. And then you've got Opus, their biggest, most capable model.

The one serious power users actually pay for. Clawed Mythos sits above all three. The leaked draft introduces a brand new model tier called Capybara. Bigger than Opus, more expensive than Opus.

And according to the draft, it scores dramatically higher than Clawed 4.6 on coding, academic resync, and cyber security across the board. A whole new tier above their best model. That's not a minor upgrade, that's a new category. Anthropic confirmed this after Fortune broke the story on Thursday.

A spokesperson said the model represents a step change and is the most capable we've built to date. They also said they're being deliberate about the release. That word, deliberate. I keep going back to it because when you read what the leaked documents actually say about what this model could do, the caution makes total sense.

Anthropic's own internal draft says Clawed Mythos is currently far ahead of any other AI model in cyber capabilities. Not ahead, far ahead. And then it says something that every person running a business online needs to hear. It says Mythos presages an upcoming wave of models that can exploit vulnerabilities in ways that far outpace the efforts of defenders.

Plain English, this model can find and attack software weaknesses faster than the people trying to stop those attacks before they can even respond. Let that land. Anthropic, whose entire identity is built around safety, is saying in their own internal documents that what they built is ahead of the defenders. That security teams right now cannot move fast enough to keep up with what this model is capable of.

That's why they're not releasing it publicly. Early access is going only to organizations working on cyber defense to give the good guys a head start before this technology spreads wider. Think about what that rollout decision actually tells you. The people who built Mythos decided and designed their launch strategy around managing the damage it could cause.

That's not a PR positioning move. That's a company genuinely wrestling with what they've made. Now, if you're running a marketing agency, a freelance business, an e-commerce store, you might be thinking, this is a cyber security story that doesn't really touch you. Stay with me.

It does. I'll show you exactly how. First, some context on how fast this is all escalated. Just weeks ago, OpenAI released GPT 5.3 Codex and they announced it as the first model they'd ever classified as high capability for cyber security under their preparedness framework.

First one ever, a big deal at the time. That same week, Anthropic released Opus 4.6. And Opus 4.6 was already finding previously unknown vulnerabilities in real live production code bases, not test environments, real software, real holes nobody had caught, found automatically by AI. And Mythos makes both of those look like early drafts.

Anthropic also documented this is public. They reported this themselves, a coordinated campaign by a Chinese state sponsored group using Claude code to infiltrate roughly 30 organizations, tech companies, financial institutions, you've got government agencies. The campaign ran for weeks before it was caught. Anthropic detected it, it spent 10 days investigating the full scope, banned the accounts and notified every affected organization.

That was Opus level Claude. Think about what Mythos level access could mean for the wrong people. Every few weeks, the ceiling on what these models can do moves up and the pace of that movement is accelerating, not plateauing, accelerating. If you have any online presence, a website, a client portal, a Shopify store, a course platform, a membership site, the environment your business runs inside is shifting faster than most people realize.

This is the operating reality of 2026. Here's a question worth sitting with for a second. What actually happens when AI models surpass the ability of humans to defend against them? Think about the current setup.

Your website runs on software. That software has weak points. Right now finding those weak points takes time and skill. Attackers have to know what they're looking for.

Defenders have to have time to patch things, right? And Mythos changes that dynamic. According to Anthropic's own internal assessment, it can scan for and identify software vulnerabilities at a speed and scale that outpaces what defenders can respond to. Meaning by the time you know there's a problem, the problem has already been exploited.

That's a scenario Anthropic is trying to get ahead of. By giving cyber defense organizations early access, they're hoping to close some of that gap before Mythos becomes broadly available. This isn't a theoretical future risk. It's the reason the rollout strategy for the most powerful model ever is built around protecting people from what it can do.

Now let me tell you how this leak actually happened. This part is genuinely absurd. Anthropic's content management team, the tool they use to publish their public blog, has a default setting. Files you upload are set to public unless someone manually changes it to private.

Someone uploaded nearly 3,000 internal files and never changed the setting. That's it. The whole leak. Alexandre Pauwels, a cyber security researcher at the University of Cambridge, found the files.

Ray Paz, a senior AI security researcher at Layer X Security, reviewed them independently. Fortune reached out to Anthropic. Anthropic locked the database and pulled access, but the information was already out. The cache included blog drafts, internal PDFs, images, logos, and details at a private in-by-only CEO retreat at an 18th century manor in the English countryside.

Daryar Modi set to attend. European business leaders getting previews of unreleased cloud capabilities. The document called it an intimate gathering. Anthropic confirmed the retreat is going ahead.

That's probably the most anthropic thing in this entire story. So what does all of this mean for you? Well there are three confirmed things that matter here. Number one, Miphos is trained and operational.

Testing is running with a small group of early access customers right now. No public release timelines are confirmed, but the model exists and it's working. Two, the capability jump is real and documented. The leaked draft, says Miphos, scores dramatically higher than Opus 4.6.

Not marginally, dramatically, on coding, academic reasoning, and cyber security. That has practical implications well beyond the security world. A freelance content agency using Cloud Today for example to produce research reports and strategy decks for clients. A Miphos tier model doing that same work would produce deeper analysis, handle more complexity, catch more nuance.

That's what dramatically higher scores on, academic reasoning. And that's what it looks like when you translate it out of benchmark language and into actual work. Three, a new pricing tier is probably coming. Anthropic confirmed the model is expensive to run.

Capybara, the tier above Opus, will cost more. Early access stays selective until the economic shift. Which means the businesses that are already fluent with AI will get far more value out of more powerful tools as access opens up. And here's what I think people are sleeping on right now.

The businesses and creators who are paying attention to this moment, who see Claude Miphos get confirmed, who understand that a new model tier above Opus officially exists, they have a window. A window to get ahead of this before everyone else. Every time a new model tier drops there's a period where the people who already know how to use the current tools adapt first and fastest. They have the workflows, they have the prompts, they understand how to get value out of AI.

So when Miphos lands publicly they just run faster. The people who didn't build that foundation they're starting from scratch again and by the time they've figured it out the next model is already in testing. This cycle is real and it keeps spinning faster. And here's why that third point is the one I want to linger on.

The businesses already building AI fluency, that have real workflows, know how to prompt effectively and how to understand, get genuine value from these tools. They'll move faster with every new model that lands. Not because they're smarter, but because they already know how to use their tool. When a better version arrives like Miphos they immediately go faster and that gap is real.

And with it compounds with every release. If you want coaching on how to close it, real day, 30-day roadmaps, weekly calls, daily tutorials and a community of people already doing this, the AI Profit Boardroom is where to start. You get all the training, tools, coaching and roadmaps to grow your business, generate more customers and get more leads with AI automation. Now here's what most coverage is missing. Everyone is focused on the cybersecurity side of Claude Miphos. Completely understandable, it's alarming, it's real, it deserves attention. But the leaked draft also confirms that Miphos scores dramatically higher on academic reasoning and coding.

And those capabilities affect every business watching this, not just organizations that are worried about cybersecurity. And better reasoning means more strategic outputs, better research synthesis, better long-form content, better analysis of market trends, competitor moves, customer data, better everything where thinking quality is the bottleneck. A creator using Miphos tier AI to plan a content series or to develop a course curriculum is going to produce dramatically better work that's qualitatively different from current tools out there. So this is a really good opportunity to start preparing.

Now no specific benchmarks have been confirmed from Arthropic, no confirmed release date, no pricing details for the Capybara tier. The leaked draft had a publication date in its structured data, but Arthropic gave no indication they're sticking to any internal schedule that existed before Thursday night. What we do know, directly confirmed, is that it's in testing, it's a step change, and it's the most capable model Arthropic has ever built, and the cybersecurity implications are serious enough to shape the entire rollout strategy. There's also the bigger context.

So Arthropic has been under pressure from multiple directions this month. A US judge had to step in and block the Pentagon from labeling Arthropic a supply chain risk, which would have banned Claude from government use entirely. That situation is still not fully resolved, and now a major data leak on top of it. But Miphos exists anyway.

Training done, early access running, the model was real, and the thing about Opus has a name. The thing above Opus, sorry, has a name. And we found out about it because someone forgot to flip a toggle. If you've been uncertain about whether AI is something worth genuinely building into your business, whether this is a trend or something that fundamentally changes how businesses compete, Claude Miphos is your answer.

The company that built it is scared enough of what it can do that they designed the entire launch about protecting people from it first. They created a new model tier to categorize where it sits. They're giving defenders priority access before anyone else. And the model above Miphos is probably already in early development somewhere too.

The businesses that move right now understand the current tools, build real workflows, and put in the reps whilst the models are still accessible and learnable are going to have a compounding advantage as more powerful versions arrive. The ones waiting are going to keep making up ground. If you want to be in the first group, the AI Profit Boarding is where to start. Four weekly live coaching calls and everything you need to start generating more leads, saving time, and growing with AI automation.

Claude Miphos is coming. The question is whether you're building now or catching up later. Share this if it surprised you. Most people have no idea this model even exists yet.
