Claude AI Cowork Projects Take Over

Claude AI co-work projects take over. Let me tell you what just happened. Anthropic shipped something called projects inside called co-work And I know that sounds like a small update sounds like they just added a folder But if you actually look at what this does is a fundamental change To what AI can do for you every single day and most people are going to miss it completely Here's what co-work already did. So Claude co-work launched back in January 2026 the idea was simple but wild instead of chatting with Claude back and forth You give it a task walk away and come back to finish work and then Claude goes into actual files Read some, edit some, move some, organize some, real files on your computer Not a copy, not an upload, the actual thing sitting on your hard drive.

That was already science fiction But there was a catch. Every single time you started a new session Claude forgot everything I forgot what your company does, it forgot your writing style, it forgot that last Tuesday You told it to always format reports a certain way Every session was a blank slate and you have to re-explain yourself every single time That's the thing that stops people from actually using AI in their real work and Anthropic just fixed it So here's what projects actually changes. Projects in co-work lets you group related tasks into Dedicated workspaces within their own files, right? So you can add files, you can add context, instructions and memory.

Memory is Enabled for co-work projects. Claude remembers context from your tasks that you have to run in a project and applies it to future tasks in the same project Memory, scope to the project and Claude now remembers This is the thing that turns Claude from a cool demo into a real worker that's working 24-7 for you Something you can actually build your business around and here's how it works in practice Say you run a marketing agency with live clients Every Monday you pull data from each client's folder, write a performance report and send it off. Before projects You open Claude, explain who the client is, explain the format they like, attach the folder, run the task, close Claude, next week Same explanation, same setup and it's a lot of moving parts, right? It's a lot of messing around inside Claude co-work privacy.

With projects you create one workspace per client You can tell Claude once, here's a folder, here's how the client likes their reports Here's the format, here's the tone and every Monday after that Claude already knows You just say go, you can walk away and come back to finish reports And that is an entire morning of your week back Every week forever and there's three big pieces for this that I really want to unpack because the details matter here So persistent workspaces. Before this update Claude Co-work was session based. That meant a fresh start every time. Now it is project based So you can build a workspace Give it files and instructions and it stays there like having a desk that does not get cleared off every single night Now the beauty of that is that you get scoped memory as well So what Claude learns in one project does not carry over to others You do not want Claude mixing up instructions For example for client work in your personal projects Each project basically has its own brain with separate context, separate memory and also clean lines Then you also have scheduled tasks inside projects and this is the automation unlock So you can say for example forward slash schedule in any co-work task You can say every Friday at 5 p.m Clean up my downloads folder every Monday morning pull last week's data and write a summary every day at 9 a.m Check this folder for new receipts and add them to my spreadsheet You set it once then Claude does it every single week whilst you sleep and whilst you are on a call Even whilst you're in the gym, for example So you can operate this remotely in a very similar way to something like OpenClaude Now this is automation that used to cost a developer tens of hours to set up Now you can just set it up in five minutes in plain English And also I've personally found myself using less tools like NXN anymore because you can make all these automations yourself Instead and the other cool thing about this is you don't need to be technical I know what some of you are thinking you're thinking this sounds great for tech people with tech skills, right?

But co-work is designed as a more accessible version of Claude, right? So built into the Claude desktop app You can designate a folder where Claude can read or modify files and give instructions through the standard chat interface Which means far less technical savvy to set it up, right? And that is Anthropic's own word So some of the use cases I showcased reorganizing downloads, turning receipt screenshots into expense spreadsheets Producing first drafts from notes across your desktop into all sorts of things This is something that you can easily do and it's not a developer use case, right? That is a small business owner use case That is a freelancer who hates doing expenses on Sunday night And now with projects you create one expense project, for example Tell Claude once how to format everything And then from that point forward you just drop receipts in the folder and it handles the rest Now here's where it gets interesting as well because you've got dispatch, right?

Which means that your phone becomes a remote control So right at the same time that Anthropic dropped projects They also shipped dispatch Now this means that you can now text tasks to Claude from your phone whilst your computer does the actual work Think about that for a minute Maybe you're at the grocery store Maybe you remember you need a report before your Monday morning You pull out your phone, you text Claude You can pull last month's data from the sales folder And write a one-page summary formatted like the last report Your computer at home does the work You just check out, drive home And the report is sitting there waiting for you That means the same connectors, plugins and files you access already configured in Cowork And then you can just scan a QR code to pair your phone And desktop takes about 60 seconds to set up And you've now got remote control for your AI worker right in your pocket Now I want to be fair because this is a research preview Max Stories actually tested it and found about a 50-50 success rate on tasks Strong for information retrieval, still shaky for complex cross actions But this is version 1 and the trajectory is what matters, not where it is on day 1 Now here's where it's interesting because Wall Street is also paying attention And following the Cowork launches, enterprise software stocks Shared a combined $285 billion in value As investors repriced companies whose core functionality Overlapped with what Anthropic's desktop AI could automate That's $285 billion ServiceNow, Salesforce, Snowflake, Intuit, Thomson Reuters These are the companies that corporations pay billions every year to manage their business And Wall Street is basically saying Claude is coming for them IBM shares also suffered their worst single day loss since October 2000 And they were down nearly 13.2 percent After Anthropic published a blog post about using Claude code To modernize something called COBOL A blog post tanked one of the oldest tech companies in the world by 13 percent And then Microsoft did something nobody predicted Despite a $13 billion investment in OpenAI They built their newest flagship M365 feature on Anthropic's Claude Cowork technology So Microsoft unveiled Copilot Cowork, an AI system that runs tasks in the background Creates documents and works across Microsoft 365 apps powered by Claude And now Claude is inside Outlook, inside Teams, inside Excel, inside PowerPoint Inside the software that almost every office worker in the world uses today If you work in a company that uses Microsoft 365, Claude is coming to your workspace Whether your company specifically decided to adopt AI or not It is being embedded inside the infrastructure At Spotify, engineers can now kick off a large-scale code migration Just by describing what they need in plain English And the result, up to a 90 percent reduction in engineering time for code migrations With over 650 AI-generated code changes shipped per month 90 percent If a task used to take 10 hours and now takes one, what happens to the nine hours? layer underneath everything, right So when something becomes infrastructure, it becomes unavoidable And that's the game that Claude is playing Now the question I keep hearing is Is AI going to take my job? That's the wrong question The right question is What was previously impossible for me to do alone that I can now do with AI?
