Claude: New Autonomous AI Agent Updates!

Claude, new autonomous AI agent updates from Claude. So Anthropic just dropped a bunch of updates for Claude code, and on the surface, it looks like a regular product update. New features, cool stuff. When you zoom out and you look at what these features actually do together, this is not a regular update.

This is Anthropic drawing a line in the sand saying, we are building a fully autonomous AI agent, one that works whilst you sleep, one you can text from your couch, one that never stops working unless you tell it to. Now, let me walk you through exactly what dropped and then tell you why this matters for you, not just for coders, for everyone. Let's go. Claude code channel.

So I want you to sit with this one for a second because this one is wild. You start a job in Claude code, Claude is working, writing code, fixing bugs, building stuff, and then you walk away. You go grab food, you go to bed, and now you can text Claude on your phone. So on Telegram, on Discord, from your phone, you can send a message, Claude reads it, Claude does the work, it texts you back.

And that might sound simple, but think about what it actually means. Before this update, if you walked away from your desk, Claude was literally just sitting there, waiting. You have to go back to your computer to check on anything. Now you can text it.

Like you text a person, you give instructions, you ask what's happening, you say stop, keep going, try something different. And a channel is basically an MCP server that pushes messages into your running Claude code session. Two-way conversation, real time. This turns Claude from a request response tool into an event-driven autonomous agent.

Let me say that again, event-driven autonomous agent. Claude is no longer waiting for you to sit down and type. Claude is awake, watching, and it responds to things happening in the real world without you being in the room. That's not a chatbot, that's a worker.

Now here's a context. There is a product called OpenClaude that's been extremely popular. Open source, AI agent, lets you control your computer, works autonomously, over 300,000 GitHub stars. And it's one of the biggest projects of all time in terms of open source.

Now, one of the things to note here is the channels from Claude code is built on MCP. So the community can build their own connectors with Slack, WhatsApp, and anything. And right now it's just a Telegram and Discord, but give it a few months and it will work with everything. Now, I know when people hear Claude code, they tune out, they think it's for developers, but stop and stay with me.

The stuff that lands in developers tools today lands in consumer tools six months later. That's a pattern every single time. And what seems complicated and technical right now becomes a button you click in a normal app by the end of the year. So when I tell you Claude can receive text messages and work autonomously whilst you sleep, I'm not telling you about a code or feature, I'm telling you about the future of how you run your business.

Schedule tasks as well. So this one might be even more powerful. You can now tell Claude every morning at 9 a.m., check the error logs, or go and write some content, or resubmit some ideas for me, or every Monday pull the open pull request and give me a summary. And, you know, for example, every hour check the deployment that finished.

Claude just does it automatically on repeat without you asking again. The forward slash loop command is the quickest way to set this up, but you can also do this inside Claude co-work as well. Now, the great thing about this is you can automate tasks whilst you're gone. It runs automatically.

You do need Claude open as long as you're using it, but at the same time, it can just run on your computer and you don't need to be there. Now, on top of that, you've also got remote control, which is exactly what it sounds like. So you can start a session in your terminal, then control it from the web or the cloud mobile app. So your full local environment stays available.

File systems, MCP servers, project config, nothing moves to the cloud. Only chat messages and tool results flow through the encrypted bridge. So if you kick off a big job at your desk and then you leave and you pick up your phone, you open the Claude app, you see exactly what Claude's doing, you steer it, give it new instructions, et cetera, without going back to your computer, you're all good. Now, here's a number that should get your attention.

As of 2026, early 2026, Claude code alone has reached a 2.5 billion annualized run rate, more than doubling since January, and roughly 4% of all public GitHub commits worldwide are now offered by AI coding agents. Now, that number's going to go higher and higher as people use it more and more, and this is becoming even more powerful over time. Now, with the remote control, you can basically control this from wherever you are, which means you can create more content, which means the AI agents are going to code even more in the future. There's also a million token context window.

Basically what this means is that Claude can handle a lot more information than ever before. So if you zoom out, you've got remote control, you've got the ability to control this from your phone, you've got the Claude code channels, which can connect to your Discord and your Telegram, and then also you've got the forward slash loop feature to schedule tasks. All this stuff would have seemed like almost impossible or life-changing a year ago. Now it's kind of like normal.

You know, in fact, 4% of all GitHub commits are actually AI written, and Claude code is at a $2.5 billion annualized run rate. So this is something that's evolving, that's improving, that's getting better all the time. You know, if you're a real estate agent, you could set up a schedule task to pull all the new listings, batching client criteria every morning, and draft a personalized email before your clients wake up, right? That agent is 10 times faster than you doing it manually.

If you're a consultant, well, you could use Claude to hold the context of every client conversation from every document, every small email thread in a single session. Again, becoming more powerful. Now, overall, the pattern is clear, right? This stuff is getting more and more powerful, and I think it's been accelerated by OpenClaw. So Claude is gonna become more and more autonomous because they want to compete directly with OpenClaw. And the thing about all of this is when the multi-agent coordination becomes reliable, that productivity number that you might have right now, you know, in terms of a multiplier, maybe you're saving five hours a week or 10 hours a week, I would fully expect that at some point you're not gonna be like 2X or 3Xing, it's gonna be 10X or 20X, right?

So for example, if you have 10 AI agents who never sleep, never get distracted, each holding massive amounts of context in parallel, well, how more powerful are you gonna be? How much more is that gonna compound on top of each other? How many more productivity gains are you gonna get, especially when they're designing work for you to do? So that's the expectation of how we're going right now.

And I think at this point, Claude is at the point where it's doing 90% of what is required from OpenClaw, right? And this is the most popular autonomous AI agent in the world. And this is Claude beginning to become better and better at it. And the thing to note here is like, Anthropic is shipping faster than almost any company I watch, you know, remote control, scheduled tasks, Telegram and Discord, 1 million token context window at no extra charge.

And this is all in the last few weeks. The pace isn't slowing down, it's accelerating. The people sitting on the sideline waiting for it to be perfect, waiting for it to be simpler, are gonna have a very hard time catching up to the people who started now. And this is not about being a technical person.

This is about understanding where the leverage is. And right now, the leverage is in AI. Claude can work whilst you sleep. He can run from your computer autonomously.

He can do whatever you want. He can schedule tasks. He can pretty much automate 90% of your job right now. If you really look at what you're doing and how you need to automate it.
