Hermes AI Agent + Obsidian + Omi is Insane (FREE!)

Today, I want to show you two free tools to make Hermes 10 times better when it comes to context, when it comes to memory. And the powerful thing about this is when you set this up, number one, you don't need to train your AI agents on memory anymore, it will automatically do it. And number two, it's going to be super fast and easy. Number three is free.

And number four, you can actually plug this in across all your AI agents, whether that's OpenCore, Pi, whether that's Hermes agent, whether that's core code, et cetera. So let me break down exactly what we're doing and how this works. So essentially inside Hermes agent, I've got this connected to something called OMI and Obsidian. Now Obsidian is designed to take notes on my memories using the vault from OMI.

And if we have a look at memories here, we have this connected to Obsidian, right? So OMI is connected to Obsidian. OMI takes notes on everything that I do all day. And I'll show you how in a second, it's pretty crazy.

And then we can export that to our Obsidian vault right here. So if we click on export here, this will write a memories file with all of our details. And it literally puts in new memories every single day, right? There's actually over 650 memories inside here.

And I've only been using it since a couple of weeks ago, right? So what is happening here and how are we linking this to Hermes? So essentially I have OMI set up here. And what it can do is it can record conversations.

So you can see anything that I speak into the mic gets recorded right here, right? Then what we also do is we have the memory section here. So it automatically writes memories and puts it into a nice little brain map, which you can see inside this chart. We have all of our previous conversations saved on the history here.

And then on the home, it actually automatically writes up my tasks and my goals, and we can chat to it. Now you can see on the left hand side, I've enabled screen recording and also microphone access. And basically what this means is whatever I'm doing all day is recorded and plugged into OMI automatically, right? Through the screen recording and the microphone here, which means it has a crazy amount of context.

And it's always recording my memories and then organizing them each day. And then from there, we plug this into Obsidian. You could also sync this to Notion as well. Obsidian is great because it's a free tool.

And OMI, the only thing that is premium on OMI is the number of messages you get per month, right? But if you're just using this for Obsidian, you don't even need to worry about messages, right? Because you're not actually speaking to OMI. You're just writing from OMI to Obsidian and creating and creating that list of ideas and memories that you've got over here.

Now you can also have notes not just from OMI, but anything else that you do. So you can see here, for example, we've got a bunch of notes. And then you might be wondering, well, how does this all sync into Hermes? So literally, if we go into Hermes now and we say, okay, use my notes from the Obsidian vault for your memory, particularly from OMI.

And because this is running locally, it's connected to my Obsidian vault with all my memories. And so it has all that context. And you can see here that it's actually using that folder and that file path to find my memories, read them, and then use that for context. So that understands me probably better than anyone else, right?

And any other memory that I've used. The thing that I like about this as well is like, I don't have to manually update this every single time. It's automatically synced directly from OMI. Now there's some other interesting stuff you could do with OMI as well.

So for example, you can actually sync it to your wearables. I don't use any wearables, but you can. And then also if you press command and O at any time, you can pull this up and it sees your screen and your context. And you can ask questions.

Again, you only get like 33 messages per month if you do that. And that's not what we're really using it for, but you can use it for that too. There's so much you can do with this. So you can see here that it pulls in and reads my latest memories, even knows, for example, what time I sleep, which is pretty crazy.

That's the level of detail we've got inside the memory here. So if I ask it any questions, or if I'm asking it like, okay, what could we do? How can we improve, et cetera? Then we can, or what could you help me automate?

Hermes knows me better than me almost, right? It has an insane level of detail because it's pulling in the memories. Now you could also do the same inside OpenClaw. So if we go to OpenClaw here, we can do exactly the same thing.

So we can give it the command, use this file path for context and memory. By the way, if you need to get the file path, all you do is you go to Obsidian, you find the folder, open it up in Finder, and then copy the file path. By getting the info and you'll find the file path right here. Then you can give that to any of your AI agents working locally.

And it pulls into the point where it even understands what music I like and that sort of thing. So this is basically how you can use Obsidian with OMI. Super powerful combination. You can use it with wearables.

You can pull this up on your screen at any time to talk to it as well. I've been testing it for the last couple of weeks and been super impressed. And the other thing is there's so many more apps you can actually export to. So for example, you can connect this to your calendar, your emails, you can connect it to your local files and sync it right there.

You can update your memory inside Claw, chat GPT, Gemini, etc. And there's a plugin for OpenClaw as well. On top of that, you can actually go to this section and see your memories and what you've recently done with Rewind. You can see a list of tasks that we're working on right here.
