01What Is the Hermes Skills Hub?
The Hermes skills hub is a new update to the Hermes AI agent that lets you search, browse, and install skills in one click. It connects to multiple hubs like skills.sh, core hub, core market, and code marketplace. You can scan each skill for safety and see a color-coded trust tier before installing.
In this episode, Julian Goldie shows how the skills hub replaces the old slow search method. Now you type a keyword, see results as cards with descriptions and trust information, and install with one click. The hub also checks the skill and gives a verdict like “safe to install” or “be cautious.”
This makes it much faster and safer to give your Hermes agent new abilities like email management, social media posting, or browser automation.
02Main Features of the Skills Hub Update
The skills hub brings several new features that make finding and installing skills easier and safer. Here are the key ones:
- One-click install – Find a skill and install it directly from the browse results without additional steps.
- Multi-hub search – The hub searches across skills.sh, core hub, core market, code marketplace, and even GitHub.
- Security scan – Each skill is analyzed and given a verdict such as “safe to install” or “be cautious.” Julian recommends you also read the skill MD file yourself.
- Color-coded trust tiers – Skills are labeled as “trusted,” “built in,” or “community” with different colors so you can quickly see their source.
- Faster search – Julian shows that the old way took a long time, while the new hub finds everything instantly.
- Preview and verdict – You can read the skill MD file before installing to understand what instructions the skill gives your agent.
03How to Set Up the Skills Hub
Before you can use the skills hub, you need to update your Hermes agent. Follow these steps:
- Open the Hermes agent dashboard and go to the manage tab.
- Scroll down to the update section and click to install the latest version of Hermes.
- After updating, go to the manage section inside the AI agent.
- Click on the skill section to see all your existing skills. You can select all to view what’s already installed.
- Find the new browse or skills hub area – this is where you can search for new skills.
- Type a keyword like “email” or “social media” into the search box. The hub will search across all connected hubs and show results as cards.
- Click a result to preview the skill, scan it for security, and read the skill MD file.
- If you trust the skill, click install to add it to your Hermes agent with one click.
04How to Use the Skills Hub with Examples
Julian demonstrates the skills hub by searching for two examples. First, he types “email” into the search box. The hub immediately finds skills that help Hermes manage your email.
He shows the result cards, which include the skill name, description, trust tier, and a security scan button.
Next, he searches for “social media”. The old way took a long time to find results. With the new hub, results appear instantly.
He clicks on a skill to see its card. The card shows a security verdict. In the demo, one skill gets a verdict that says “be cautious” and actually blocks the install.
Julian explains you can rescan it or read the skill MD file to decide.
He also shows how to switch off skills you no longer need. In the manage skills section, you can see all installed skills and toggle them off. This helps you control which skills are active and avoid slowdowns.
The hub also works with the Goldie skill vault, a framework Julian introduces. You can add skills from multiple hubs, preview them, and install only the ones you trust.
05Results and Comparisons from the Episode
Julian compares the old skills setup to the new skills hub. In the old way, you had a blank box with a name and install button. There was only one source to find skills, no security scan, and no trust information.
Most people avoided the skills tab because it was confusing.
With the new hub, search is instant. Results appear as cards with descriptions, trust tiers, and a security verdict. The old search took “quite a long time,” while the new one finds everything “straight away.”
Julian also tests the security scan. One skill is blocked with a “be cautious” verdict. This shows the scan is active, but he advises you to always read the skill MD file yourself for extra safety.
The hub also shows color-coded tiers: trusted, built in, and community. This helps you quickly decide which skills are official and which are user-created.
06Tips, Limits, and Mistakes to Avoid
Julian gives several important warnings. First, do not install too many skills. The more skills your Hermes agent has, the slower it can become.
It will take more time to search through them, and it may use more API tokens. Keep only the skills you actually need.
Second, always scan a skill before installing, but do not rely only on the automatic scan. Julian recommends you read the skill MD file to understand exactly what the skill does. This file contains the instructions your agent will follow.
Third, you should update Hermes first before trying to use the skills hub. Without the update, the new browse feature may not appear.
Finally, if you ever need to remove a skill, you can switch it off in the manage section. This lets you test skills without permanently removing them.
07Who the Skills Hub Is For
The Hermes skills hub is for anyone who uses the Hermes AI agent and wants to add new abilities quickly and safely. It is especially useful for business owners, content creators, and automation enthusiasts who want to give their agent skills like email management, social media posting, browser automation, or video generation.
Julian shows that the skills hub is also part of a larger system called the AI Profit Boardroom. This system includes an agent operating system, memory setup, Kanban board for team orchestration, and tools for video, voice, and image generation. If you already use Hermes, the skills hub makes it easier to find and trust new skills.
If you are new, the hub lowers the barrier to getting started.
The update matters because it turns skill installation from a guessing game into a visible, safe process. You can now add a new skill every day if you want, or just add one that fits your specific need.
