Here's how I'd start a one-person AI business with Claude AI in 30 days. And here's the thing, 99% of business owners I talk to know they need AI automation. They know it, but they have zero time to figure it out. Zero capacity.
And most of them would happily pay someone else to just handle it for them. And that gap between what businesses know they need and what they can actually do is a business. And right now in 2026, that gap is massive. So in this video, I'm going to walk you through exactly how I would start a one-person AI automation business from scratch with Claude, with no team, no office, no prior clients, just four steps.
And if you follow this, you can realistically have your first paying client within 30 days. So let me show you how. Step number one is content. Pick one platform, and I would start posting about AI ASAP, right?
That's it. YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, doesn't matter. Just pick one and go. Now I know what you're thinking.
You might be thinking, I'm not an expert, or I don't know enough, or I've never created content, but here's the reality, right? You don't need to know everything. You just need to know more than the person watching. If you've been using Claude AI even for just two weeks and you show a local restaurant owner how to automate their email follow-ups with it, you know more than them, right?
And that is enough. The content doesn't need to be fancy. It just needs to be useful. So film yourself setting up an automation or learning something new with Claude.
Walk through a prompt you've built. Show a before and after. That kind of thing works. And the goal of the content is not to go viral.
The goal is just to get people to raise their hand. Every piece of content you post should end with a call to action to book in a free AI automation session with you. A 20 to 30 minute call where you're going to look at their business and show them one thing they could automate right now. Free, with no pitch, just a valuable call one-to-one.
That's the hook. And if you want help building that first automation, actually landing those calls, come join us inside the AI Profit Boarding. Right now, we've got 2,800 business owners in there actively building AI automations. We have a full 30-day roadmap specifically built for people starting their first AI automation business, covering exactly which automations to lead with, how to price them, and how to get your first client on the phone.
You get four weekly coaching calls where every week you can bring your exact setup and get feedback live. Link in the comments description or just go to the AIProfitBoarding.com. So for example, for me every day, I just record what I'm doing with AI, put it on YouTube, and then some people will buy our services or buy our coaching programs. That's basically it.
And the more attention you get, the more calls and the more clients you get. And I would just focus on that for now because you probably have a lot of time, but you don't have a lot of clients, right? And so you just focus all your energy every single day on creating lots of videos to help people with that. Step number two is the free session.
And this is where most people mess up. They think the free call is about giving advice. It's not. The free session is a sales call, right?
But a good one, a useful one, right? It's one where you actually give value. So here's how it works. A person shows up, you ask them about their business, you find one manual task that's eaten up their time, something they do every week, and you show them right there on the call how Claude or another AI tool could actually help them handle it.
You're not pitching yet. You're just demonstrating what AI can do when you automate stuff with it. And then at the end, you say something like, listen, I can build that for you this week and I can set up two more automations just like it. That's what I do for clients on a monthly basis.
That's it. The demo did the selling. What automations are worth leading with? Well, the ones business owners feel like they need immediately, right?
So for example, lead follow-up emails, customer onboarding sequences, social media content, invoice reminders, FAQ handling via chatbots. You know, what you can actually do is just ask the person on the call, what are you struggling with? What are you spending all your time with? And then from there, reverse engineer.
Okay, this is what they need help with, so that's what I'm going to show them on the call. And these are things like every business does manually. There are things, you know, every business does manually each week, right? And every business would love to hand off, right?
Let's say, for example, a local gym owner, they might spend two hours a week just chasing unpaid invoices, right? So if they can automate that, it's going to save them a lot of time and it's going to help them directly. So you don't need like 10 automations in your portfolio before you start selling as well. You just need one good one that you can demo confidently, right?
Or you can say, okay, listen, here's how I'd approach that. If you want to hire me to help you do that, I'll figure out how to do it later this week and we can run for it together, right? That's it. So step number one is create the content.
Step number two is jump on the call. Step number three is the offer, right? And you keep it simple. Monthly retainer, one to three new automations per month.
Here's a pricing framework that actually works for you, right? So you can have like a starter tier and that's one automation per month, around 500 to 1,000 pounds per month, depending on your market. The growth tier could be like two to three automations per month, around 1,500 pounds to 2,500 pounds per month. You're not building like a custom software project.
You're just setting up systems, you know, usually using tools like Claude. Claude is probably the main one that can help them. And these tools are just plug and play, right? So the work is in understanding the client's workflow and mapping it to the right automation.
So understanding what they're struggling with and then going, right, here's how you do that. Here's how you do this, right? And one client at this starter tier is 500 to 1,000 pounds per month. Five clients is 2,500 to 5,000 pounds a month, right?
So once you stack up more clients, that's real income, right? From one person, no office, no staff here. And the key word here is yet, because the retainer model has a ceiling. At some point, you can't take on more clients if you're building every automation yourself, right?
But we'll come on to step four in a minute, and that's where step four really comes in. But before that, you know, notice what the offer does. It's recurring, and that's the key as well. So you don't want to be selling off one-time automations and one-time project work, because that's not going to keep growing and keep compounding, right?
You want to be doing recurring automation work, recurring client automations, recurring retainers, so that you can stack up the growth over time, right? Otherwise, if, for example, you do one-off projects, well, that can burn you out, because you're basically chasing people all the time, right? You're doing one-off projects. I used to do that with copywriting.
I used to sell copywriting as a service, and it was just like one-off project, one-off projects. You can't really build anything on that, right? Whereas, for example, when we started selling retainers for AI automation or retainers for SEO, it's like people were buying that every single month. And so it grows, and it grows, and it grows.
You get two clients, you get two more clients the next month, you keep them, and everything stacks up. That's the goal of this business, right? Retainers build a business. So the business owner is paying monthly, because every month there's something new to automate, or there's a next system to automate, right?
There's new tools dropping, there's new workflows to clean up, there's new growth channels that they want to scale with, and there's new AR models changing what's possible. So there's no shortage of work right here. AI is moving so fast. So what a business needed automated six months ago is very different from what they needed automated today, right?
And that keeps clients on board because there's always more, right? And most clients, once they see the first automation working, they want more, not less, right? And step number four is leverage. So this is where the one-person business stays a one-person business, but doubles its capacity.
So you hire a virtual assistant or two to handle the actual automation builds. You keep focusing on two things only, content creation and sales goals. And eventually you can actually hire someone to handle sales goals, and you can even replace yourself with an AI avatar on the content side as well. So you can replace all parts of it, but that's a model and you are the face.
You make the content, you take the calls, you chase the clients and close them, and then you hand the build brief to a virtual assistant who knows how to set up the system. You can train them on the tools, you can build a simple delivery process that could be like a Claude stack or a Claude skill. It could be like a brief template for using Claude, a checklist, a review step, and the work goes out without you building everything yourself. Now, a good virtual assistant in this space usually costs between $500 to $1,000 per month, depending on location and skill.
And if that virtual assistant's work helps you hold two extra clients, you'd have otherwise turned away, or you've already made your money back and then some. And the point is you're building a business, not a job, right? The moment you're the only person who can build the thing, you've capped yourself. Content and sales, that's your job, right?
Everything else can get systemized. And let me be clear about the timeline here, right? So we talked about this as a 30-day plan for really growing a one-person business with AI. And bear in mind, it's still a one-person business even when you get the virtual assistants, because they're just temporary contractors, right?
You can end the contract at any time. It's not like they're full-time employees. So day one to seven, you pick your platform, you post your first three pieces of content about AI automation, and you set up a simple booking link for free sessions. You can use Calendly and just keep it very simple.
Day eight to 14, you've probably got a few people on calls. Even if they don't convert, you've practiced a pitch, you've found what questions come up, you've learned which automations people get most excited about, and you use that to sharpen the actual content you create. Day 15 to 21, you've had your first client yes, one client, one retainer, you're building your first real automation for a paying customer, and you're also still posting content every day and booking more calls. And then day 21 to 30, you're delivering for client one, closing client two, and you're starting to look at which tasks in the delivery process you can document and hand off.
And that's 30 days. It's not viral. It's not like some crazy strategy. It's very simple.
It's the fundamentals, but that's what business is. And it's just about growing and being consistent and having consistent compounding progress. Now, the thing most people get wrong about starting a business, this is a wait until they feel ready. They want to know every AI tool inside out.
They want a website. They want a logo. They want a proper case study before they start. None of that is a business, right?
The business is having client conversations with sales schools, solving their problems and fixing everything, right? The barrier to entry right now is actually at its lowest point because all it is, you know, is literally creating content, jumping on sales schools and closing clients, and then delivering for them, right? A year ago, setting up even a basic AI workflow with Claude Code required some technical understanding. Now with tools like Claude Co-Work, Claude Code, et cetera, these are simpler than ever, easier than ever.
You can just describe what you want in plain English and have it walk you through the whole build. It's a real change, right? Now here's one more thing worth saying as well, is that the businesses that need this most are not tech companies, right? They're restaurants, they're physios, they're estate agents, they're accountants, trade businesses, small e-commerce firms online, right?
People who got into the field because they love what they do, not because they love admin, right? Those people are drowning in repetitive tasks, right? Email follow-up, appointment reminders, quote chasing, content posting. They know AI can help, they've heard about it, but they have no idea where to start and they genuinely just don't have the time to figure this stuff out.
So you come in, you understand their workflows and you want to make one thing that saves them two hours a week, and that's a no-brainer to pay for. Month after month, I've spoken to agency owners, you know, who are doing pretty well because of this, not because they have a massive team or a fancy brand, but because they picked a niche, they got good at automating the most painful parts in that niche, and they just kept showing up with content and sales goals. And the niche thing is worth a mention here too, right? If you try to help every single type of business, your content will be too broad to attract anyone specific.
But if you post specifically about like, let's say for example, Claude AI automation or one specific tool, then you start to attract the right people, right? Your content becomes more useful and your demos become more relevant too. So your pitch lands harder because it speaks directly to their world. You don't have to pick a niche on day one, right?
But by week two, week three, if you've had a few calls, you'll probably start to see which types of businesses get most excited, and then you double down on those, right? Focus on those. And the model scales because AI is not slowing down as well, right? Every month there are new tools, new models, new capabilities.
Each one is a new video, a new automation to demo, a new reason for a prospect to call and book a call with you. And the content itself, the content pipeline itself feeds into helping you stay curious, right? Helping you learning, right? It's a loop because when you create content about these tools, you learn something new and then you pass it on to your clients to attract more clients.
And then when you jump on those calls with clients, they give you new challenges. You solve those and you document those processes too. So you learn, you post, you get on the calls, you build, you delegate, repeat, right? Now, if you want to run with this, come join us inside the AI Profit Boardroom.
We've built a 30 day roadmap specifically for people starting on an automation business, right? Covering what to offer first, how to price it, how to run the free session call, and which automations convert the best right now.
