01What It Means to Run Hermes Agent Free

Run Hermes Agent free means using no-cost AI models inside the Agent OS platform. You connect free APIs so your agents can work without paying for a subscription. This setup keeps your automation costs at zero while still getting powerful results.

Agent OS links all your agents together with a shared memory system. Each agent works in one space, so they can share context and collaborate. You build workflows once and reuse them across many tasks.

The platform supports multiple free models, so you always have a backup if one fails.

02Free Model Options for Hermes Agent in Agent OS

There are now five free models you can select inside Agent OS. These include Step 3.7 Flash, poolside Laguna XS 2.1, Ling 3.0, Laguna S 2.1, and Tencent HY 3.3. Each model works as a direct replacement if your main choice becomes unavailable.

Previously, Qwen 3.6 was free through a beta trial. That trial period has ended, so it no longer works for free. However, you can use these alternatives:

  • Ling 3.0 Flash from Tencent as a direct model.
  • Omniroot as a free fallback across 90 different APIs.
  • Kimi or MiniMax if you already pay for those subscriptions.

Omniroot is an open source project that automatically selects working free models. If one API gets rate limited or expires, it switches to another. This gives you reliable free access without manual checks.

03How to Set Up Free Models in Agent OS

Setting up free models takes just a few minutes. Follow these steps to change your model inside Hermes Agent:

  1. Open your Agent OS dashboard.
  2. Switch over to the Hermes section.
  3. Go to the manage section in your dashboard.
  4. Open the model section.
  5. Select Omniroot or any other free model from the list.
  6. Scroll down to see all five free models and pick one.

If you get stuck, the Agent OS setup includes an FAQ section. It covers CLI configuration, Obsidian setup, and VBS setup. You can also watch a one-hour video tutorial for a deeper walkthrough of the whole process.

04Using Obsidian as Your AI Memory System

Obsidian works as a local memory system for your AI agents. It stores all your memories in folders and files that are neatly organized. This setup is called a memory galaxy because you can visualize how your agents understand everything about you.

To get started, make sure Obsidian is set up on your computer. Then ask your AI agents to export all their memories into Obsidian. The agent will create folders and files automatically, linking everything together.

You can click on any link to see the context, like an LLM Wiki page that explains a topic.

After the export, go into any agent and say, "Connect to Obsidian locally." The agent will start using Obsidian as its main memory. This works with any agent, not just Hermes. You can use Claude, OpenCore, Butts, or any other tool.

The system improves daily as you add more knowledge and links.

05How to Automate SEO with Agent OS

You can automate keyword research and SEO content creation using Agent OS. Julian demonstrated a setup where you plug in a keyword and a case study, then deploy content to your website. The system has been growing websites on a good trajectory over time.

There are two ways to set this up. The simple version uses a 12-page SEO skill that you give to your agents. They start grading and creating content from there.

The more powerful option takes longer to configure but works directly with your website:

  • Plug in your websites with a Netlify access token.
  • Or give WordPress login details with an API password.
  • Agents log into WordPress and start publishing content.

To wire SEO into Agent OS, attach a zip file to your cloud and say, "Set this up for me and configure cloud so it works." Then log in when prompted and provide the URL. That is it. The same process works for any CLI you want to plug in.

06Results and Workflows Shown in the Episode

Julian showed real examples of Agent OS in action. His websites are growing nicely over time using automated SEO. The keyword research system plugs in a keyword and case study, then deploys content automatically.

He also set up a fresh Agent OS example that morning. He attached a zip file to the cloud and asked it to configure itself. The system worked in chat right away.

For the Obsidian memory system, he showed how it visualizes all memories from the last few weeks as linked notes.

For custom GPTs, Julian recommends using ChatGPT's built-in custom GPT feature despite the 20-file limit. His team has never needed more than 20 files. Two account managers create all custom GPTs for clients, keeping things clean and accountable.

Sharing works through links, so no credentials need to be exchanged.

07Tips, Limits, and Mistakes to Avoid

Free APIs often get rate limited. That is why Omniroot as a fallback is so useful. It switches between free models automatically, so you never hit a dead end.

If one model expires, another takes over.

Do not worry about the 20-file limit on custom GPTs. Julian says it has never been an issue. You rarely need more than that.

Also, avoid self-hosting open source models for your team. Julian does not do that. A shared company ChatGPT account works better for collaboration.

When setting up SEO agents, start with the simple 12-page skill. Only move to the complex Agent OS version when you are ready. The complex option takes longer to configure but is more powerful.

Also, remember to set up the FAQ section in Agent OS so you have quick answers for CLI and Obsidian questions.

08Who Should Use Agent OS and Why It Matters

Agent OS is for anyone who wants to automate tasks with multiple AI agents. It matters because it turns scattered agents into one connected system. You get a competitive advantage as your memory and workflows improve daily.

If you are learning AI, Julian says we are all still early. Starting now gives you a head start. The AI Profit Boardroom community helps you connect with people who are also learning and growing.

You get access to beginner-to-expert training, step-by-step courses, and daily updates.

There is also weekly coaching four times a week where you can jump on live calls and ask questions. Whether you are running SEO, building custom GPTs, or just exploring AI, Agent OS gives you the tools to work smarter and automate more.
