Meta SAM 3.1 AI video will shock you and I mean that because what Meta just dropped changes how every single creator, freelancer and e-commerce business handles video forever. Here's what happened. Meta released SAM 3.1. SAM stands for Segment Anything Model.

The name tells you everything. You type a word like for example red shoes or a person in the background and this AI finds every single matching object in your video, cuts it out, tracks it across every frame automatically. No clicking frame by frame, no hiring an editor, no expensive software. You just type what you want to isolate and SAM 3.1 does the rest and the big upgrade in 3.1 is something called object multiplexing.

In plain English, SAM 3 could only track one object at a time for a video. Each object needed its own separate pass. SAM 3.1 can now track up to 16 objects at once in one single pass. Same accuracy but way less computing power.

Meta said they built this so it runs on smaller more accessible hardware. You don't need a supercomputer anymore. Now let me tell you why this matters so much and I promise what's coming next is even bigger than what I just said. Think about what video editing used to look like.

You film something, you want to blur a face, you want to remove a logo, you want to highlight a product. Every single one of those tasks meant sitting in After Effects or Premiere Pro, right? Drawing outlines by hand, frame by frame. It's called rotoscoping.

Professional editors charge hundreds of dollars for it. A single 30 second example could take hours to finish. SAM 3.1 does it in seconds. You type face and it finds every face.

You type logo on the t-shirt and it finds that specific logo. You type the blue mug on the table and it carves that mug out of every single frame in the video. Even when the camera moves. Even when the object goes behind something.

And here's what makes SAM 3.1 different from every other AI video tool you've used before. This isn't generating fake video. This isn't making AI slop. SAM 3.1 works with real footage.

Your footage. The stuff that's already on your phone. It understands language. You talk to it like you talk to a person.

Old AI needed you to click on exactly what you wanted. You had to draw boxes. You had to point at pixels. SAM 3.1 you just describe in words, right?

You say people wearing red or cars in the parking lot. The product on the shelf. Done. Meta trained this thing on over 4 million unique concepts.

52 million masks. It recognizes 270,000 different visual concepts. So when you type striped cat it doesn't just find cats. It finds striped cats specifically, right?

It can tell the difference between a player in white and a player in red. And it processes an image with over 100 objects in 30 milliseconds on a single GPU. For video it tracks in near real time. Now if you want to learn how to use tools like SAM 3.1 to speed up your content creation, save hours on video editing, land more clients with faster turnarounds, I run something called the AI Profit Boredom Community.

We've got four weekly coaching calls where I walk you through exactly how to implement the latest AI tools into your video workflows. We've got 30-day roadmaps built around content creation and AI automation. Daily step-by-step tutorials and tools like this. And 2,600 business owners helping each other figure this stuff out 24-7.

If you want to know how to turn SAM 3.1 into a real competitive advantage for your agency, your freelancing editing business, or your e-commerce brand for example, link in the comments in the description or go to the AIProfitBoredom.com. So let me show you where this gets really interesting. Meta didn't just release SAM 3.1 as a standalone tool. They have already built it into their own products.

Instagram's edits app, Meta's free video editing app for creators, already uses SAM technology for something called cutouts. Nikhaila Raavi, the research engineering manager at Meta who leads this project, explained how the model works in three steps. First you select the object, then it tracks it through the video, and then it runs fast enough to give you a real-time experience. In the edits app you can apply effects to specific people or objects in video.

Scribble effects, outline effects, glitter, blur, all applied to just the thing you selected, not the whole frame. One tap. That kind of selective editing was basically impossible on mobile before. And the edits app is completely free.

There's no subscription, no paywall for the AI features, free 4k export. This is Meta's play to replace CapCut. With SAM 3.1 under the hood they've got a serious advantage. But here's where it gets practical for your business.

If you run an e-commerce brand for example, SAM 3.1 could segment every product in your catalog photos automatically. If you type a handbag and it finds every handbag across all of your images, well then you could clean backgrounds, swap backgrounds, highlight features without Photoshop. If you're a content creator making reels or shorts, you could isolate yourself from the background in any clip, add effects just to you, blur everything behind you, put a spotlight on yourself, all from a text prompt. If you run an agency doing video for clients, well you could rotoscoping the maybe used to take your team like four or five hours, now it takes minutes.

You could deliver faster, charge the same, take on more clients. There's another piece of this I haven't talked about yet too. SAM 3D. So Meta released it alongside SAM 3.

It takes a single photo and builds a full 3D model of the object in that photo. One image, full 3D. They're already using this on Facebook Marketplace. It's called view in room.

So you see a lamp or a table for sale and then you can see how it looks in your actual living room from one photo. For e-commerce sellers, this could mean you could photograph your product once and let customers see it from every single angle and then rotate it and place it in their space. Now let me give you the full picture of SAM 3 and what it can actually do because it's a lot. Text prompts, you type a phrase and it finds everyone and everything matching, right?

For example, yellow bus or solar panels on the roof or people with backpacks, all found and segmented instantly. Exemplar prompts, you draw a box around one example of what you want. SAM 3.1 then finds every object in the image or video. Highlight one red shoe, it finds all the red shoes.

Visual prompts, so classic click and point, right? You can click an object and it segments it. And video tracking, so you can identify something in one frame and SAM 3.1 follows it through the entire video, even when the object goes behind something else and comes back. And with 3.1, all of this runs faster on cheaper hardware, tracking 18, sorry, 16 objects at the same time.

Here's another thing, Meta open sources. The model weights are free, the playground is free. You can go to Meta's segment anything playground right now in your browser, upload a video, type what you want to find and watch it work. No code, no technical skills and it's free, right?

Meta also partners with Robot Flow so businesses can fine-tune SAM 3 for their specific needs and SAM 3.1 fits on a 16 gigabyte GPU. That's a regular consumer graphics card. Now let me talk about why Meta is doing this because the strategy matters a lot. Mark Zuckerberg has talked publicly about his vision for personal AI and Meta is building the foundation for AR glasses, VR headsets and AI powered creative tools.

SAM 3 is the visual brain behind all of it. When you put on Meta's smart glasses and the AI identifies every object in front of you, that's SAM. When Instagram suggests effects for your reels based on what's in the video, that's SAM. Meta released SAM 1 in April 2023, SAM 2 came in 2024, SAM 3 dropped November 2025 and SAM 3.1 just hit yesterday.

The pace is speeding up. SAM 1 could segment one object with clicks, SAM 2 added video tracking, SAM 3 added text understanding and SAM 3.1 made it practical to run on normal hardware with 16 objects at once. And here's the thing that should wake you up. Every one of your competitors who doesn't know about this is still doing video editing the way, still playing, still paying editors to trace objects frame by frame, still spending hours in Photoshop removing background, still doing product and photography the manual way.

You don't have to. The gap between people who use these tools and people who don't is getting wider every single week and the tools are free, the playground is free, the edits app is free itself and there's no barrier except knowing this exists and knowing how to use it. I get it, there's a lot of new stuff all the time, it's hard to keep up. It's hard to actually know what matters and what's noise.

SAM 3.1 actually matters. This is real technology from one of the biggest AI teams on the planet. It's already inside Instagram, it's already powering Facebook marketplace and now it's free for anyone to use it right now. If you're a creator you can go try the segment anything playground today.

Upload one of your videos, type what you want to cut out and see what happens. It will take you five minutes but it will change how you think about editing. If you're running a business think about every hour your team spends on manual video and photo work. Then think about what happens when that goes to near zero.

The people who move fast on this stuff are the ones who win, every time. And if you want help actually putting this into your business, if you want coaching calls on how to use SAM 3.1 and tools like it to create content faster, automate your editing and get more customers through better video, the AI Profit Boardroom is where we do that every single week. You get four coaching calls, you get daily tutorials, 30-day roadmaps and 2,600 business owners all figuring out the same stuff. Plus a member map so you can connect with people near you and get help anytime a day.

Link in the comments description or just go to the AIProfitBoardroom.com to get access. This is the beginning not the end and the people who start now are the ones who won't be playing catch-up six months from now. I'll see you in the next one.
