New Claude Dispatch destroys OpenClaude. So, let me start with something that happened this week that nobody in the mainstream media is talking about yet. Anthropic just launched a feature called Dispatch for Claude Co-Work. And on the surface, it seems like a small update.

A new tab on an app, a QR code you can scan, a mobile feature in Research Preview. But here's what it actually means. The one thing OpenClaude had that Claude didn't. The single biggest reason people chose OpenClaude over anything Anthropic built.

The thing that made developers, freelancers, and business owners go through the pain of self-hosting their own AI agent on a server, dealing with Docker containers, WhatsApp, API keys, and configuration files that could break at any moment. Always on, work while you sleep, send it a task and walk away. Claude just took that away from them. I don't want to spend the next few minutes walking you through exactly what happened, why it matters, and most importantly, what this means for you.

Because if you're sitting there thinking this is a tech story for developers, you're wrong. This is a story about work and who keeps the edge in the next two years. About what separates the people who get ahead from the people who get left behind. Let's go.

So for the first and past several months of this year, the biggest war in AI has not been GPT versus Claude. It has not been open source versus closed source. It has been this one specific question. Can your AI actually do things when you're not watching?

That's the whole game. That's what everyone is fighting over. Because here's the problem with every AI chatbot you've ever used. You open up, you type something, it answers, you close it, and the second you close it, it forgets everything and does nothing.

It is not working for you whilst you're in a meeting. It's not working for you whilst you're asleep. It's not working for you whilst you're at dinner with your family. It sits there completely idle, waiting for you to come back and give it another command.

That is not an assistant. That's just a slightly smarter search engine. And a guy named Peter Steinberger understood this before anyone else, and he created OpenClaw, right? This is a 24-7 switch on AI agent.

And this is what Anthropic couldn't touch. Claude was smarter. The reason it was better, Claude Opus scores 4.6 on... scored 80.8% on SWE Bench Verified, which is the industry benchmark for real-world coding.

But OpenClaw cannot touch that on real intelligence. But intelligence without availability is like having the world's greatest employee, only works when you're physically standing next to them. OpenClaw was always on, Claude was not until right now. Here's what dispatch actually is.

I want to explain this clearly because the way it's been described in the tech press makes it sound more complicated than it actually is. You have your computer. You have Claude installed on that computer as a desktop app. You open the app.

Go to the co-work tab. Find the dispatch section. Scan a QR code with your phone. That's it.

Setup done. Now your phone and your computer are linked through one persistent conversation thread. From that point forward, you can be anywhere in the world, pull out your phone, type Claude a task, put your phone in your pocket and come back later to finish work. You can ask Claude to pull data from a local spreadsheet, and compile a summary report.

You can have Claude search your Slack messages and email, then draft a briefing document. You can request a formatted presentation, built from files in your Google Drive. You can tell Claude to organize and process files in a specific folder on your computer. And here's the part that matters.

Claude runs code in a sandbox on your machine. Your files stay local. You approve what Claude touches before it acts. OpenClaw's biggest security problem, the one that every cybersecurity firm flagged in early 2026, was that it gave an AI agent full system access, right?

BitSight found over 30,000 exposed OpenClaw instances on the public internet between January and February 2026. It's a huge security problem, right? And that's not a theoretical risk. This happened to everyone.

Real businesses with real data. Dispatch doesn't work that way. Claude co-work runs in a sandbox environment, which restricts access to only approved folders. It's safer by default and easier to use with minimal configuration required.

So now you have an AI that's almost as always on as OpenClaw. Way safer, way easier to set up. And running on a model that is genuinely more intelligent than actual reasoning tasks. I want you to sit with that for a second.

The guy who chose OpenClaw six months ago probably went through this. He spent a weekend setting it up. He ran into config files. He had to learn what Docker is.

He exposed some API keys he probably shouldn't have. He got it working, kind of, and now it lives on a server he's paying $40 to $60 a month for, running a model that's not as smart as Claude, but is there all the time. And today, he can scan a QR code, and Claude does most of that for him. Now, I want to be fair here, because I'm not going to stand here and tell you Dispatch has already won the fight.

It definitely hasn't. Dispatch is currently slow. Testing found that it succeeds roughly half the time. But now Dispatch can find information on your Mac and works with connectors, but it's slow and about a 50-50 shot whether what you try will work.

That's not good enough to bet your business on today. But that's also not the point. The point is the direction. The direction is unmistakable.

Let me give you the history of this thing, because I think context is everything here. Claude's co-work began as a research preview in January 2026, initially available to Claude Mac subscribers on Mac OS. Then on February 24th, Anthropic made its biggest enterprise move yet. Enterprise customers featured at launch included Thomson Reuters, MYSE, PwC, and Epic Systems.

Around February 3rd, approximately $285 billion in market cap was wiped from SaaS and software stacks. Thomson Reuters dropped 16%. LegalZoom fell 20%. Salesforce lost 14% over five days.

ServiceNow was down 25% year-to-date. SAP fell 33% from its highest. That was the market reacting to Claude's co-work, not to OpenClaw, because OpenClaw is an open-source hobbyist and power user tool. Co-work is backed by a company valued at over $60 billion of Amazon and Google's investors.

When Anthropic ships something, it ships at scale. When Anthropic ships something with enterprise clients like Thomson, Reuters, and MYSE, the market takes it seriously and now dispatches live, rolling out to max plans starting today and pro plans over the next two days. This is not a small update. This is Anthropic closing the gap on the one thing that made OpenClaw worth the pain.

Let me explain the architecture difference, because this is where it gets interesting and where I think most coverage gets it wrong. OpenClaw and Claude co-work are not really competing for the same person. They never were. OpenClaw is built for system-wide automation and integration, whilst Claude co-work focuses on file-based workflows and desktop productivity.

OpenClaw is what a developer builds custom workflows on. Co-work is what a knowledge worker uses to get things done without touching a terminal. Think of it this way. OpenClaw is like buying the parts to build a custom car.

Claude co-work is like buying a car that already works. The custom car can do things that the stock car cannot. It can be tuned in ways the manufacturer never intended. If you know what you're doing, it's powerful.

But most people just need to get to work. And here's the thing nobody's saying out loud. The total addressable market for Anthropic's version is much, much larger. There are a few hundred thousand developers willing to self-host an AI agent on VPS.

There are tens of millions of knowledge workers who would happily scan a QR code if it meant that AI worked whilst they slept. That is the bet Anthropic is making and Dispatch's first move that makes that bet credible. Now, let me talk about what this actually looks like in practice, because we are past the point of theoretical. People are using this stuff today.

The Anthropic team described it as feeling magical to give Claude a mission on your computer and get occasional updates, like creating reports from internal dashboards or finding a better seat on the flight. Let me translate that from engineer speak to real life. You're a freelance consultant. You have a client who wants a competitive analysis by Friday, it's Tuesday afternoon.

You have three other calls today. In the old world, you sit down tonight, you open up a bunch of browser tabs, you take notes, you paste things into chat GPT, you wrestle with the output, you format it yourself. That takes three, maybe four hours. In the Dispatch world, you type three sentences into your phone on the way to your next meeting.

Claude, co-work, dispatch, pulls the data from your local file, searches the web for its connectors, drafts a report, formats it, drops it in the folder you told it to use. You come back after dinner and boom, shakalaka, it's there. That's not a small thing. That's hours of your life back every single week.

And here's what I want you to understand about where this is going. The pattern in AI assisted development has been clear. 2004 was autocomplete, 2025 was pair programming, and 2026 is coordination. The right form factor is no longer you managing multiple apps and context switching between agents.

It is letting AI handle the delegation because the models are good enough now to coordinate themselves. That is the sentence I want you to remember. The models are good enough now to coordinate themselves. We have crossed a threshold and most people have not noticed yet.

You have, but you have noticed, right? Because you're here right now. I keep saying this and people think I'm being dramatic. I'm not being dramatic.

I'm reading the benchmarks. I'm watching the market reaction. I'm watching a $285 billion sector correction happening real time because the market understands what this technology can do. This is the part where I want to steel man the skeptics because I know some of you are sitting there thinking, okay, but it only works half the time.

You said that yourself. And you're right. It does only work about half the time right now. But I want you to think about the first iPhone.

The App Store didn't exist yet. You couldn't send a picture and a text message. The camera is worse than a disposable camera from 1998. The phone dropped calls constantly.

Steve Jobs got on a stage and called it revolutionary. He was not wrong. He was just early. Dispatch working 50% of the time in March 2026 is like the iPhone working 50% of the time in June 2007.

The hardware architecture is real. The software will catch up. And when it does, the people who understand it will already be so far ahead of the people who are just discovering it that the gap will feel unclosable. I want to talk to you about what this means for the people watching this who are not developers because the developer story is interesting, but it's not the most important story here.

The most important story is about the knowledge worker. The lawyer who spends six hours drafting a contract that an AI could draft in 20 minutes. The marketer who spends a Tuesday pulling together a campaign report that an AI could generate whilst she eats lunch. The small business owner who's doing his own bookkeeping at midnight because he can't afford to hire someone.

Not realizing the software he's already paying $20 a month for could just do it for him if he learned how to ask. That's the person co-work dispatch is built for. Not developers, knowledge workers. And here's the uncomfortable reality that I feel like I have to say because nobody else is saying it clearly enough.

The people who learn to use these tools in the next six months are going to be able to do the work of two, three, maybe four people by themselves. Not because they're smarter. Not because they're working harder. Because they have a full worker that never sleeps, never calls in sick, never asks for a raise and gets meaningfully better every few months.

That changes what a team looks like. That changes what a company looks like. That changes who gets hired and who does not. I'm not saying this to scare you.

I'm saying it because I think the people who are scared are the ones who are paying attention. The people who are paying attention are the ones who are going to be fine. Let me talk about the comparison between dispatch and OpenClaw more specifically because I think there are real things OpenClaw still does better and I want to be honest about that. OpenClaw runs 24 hours a day.

It checks your email at 6 in the morning. It drafts replies before you wake up. It monitors Slack channels. It triggers actions on a schedule.

Claude sessions end when you close the app every time. That's still true. Dispatch requires your Mac to be awake and the Claude app to be open. If your computer is asleep or the Claude desktop app is closed, Claude cannot work on tasks.

OpenClaw running on a VPS server never sleeps. It's running right now. It'd be running at 3 in the morning. It doesn't care.

OpenClaw connects to 15 or more messaging apps natively. WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Signal. You text OpenClaw like you're texting a friend. Claude has zero messaging integration.

And then there is model freedom. OpenClaw is model agnostic. You can run it using Anthropigen OpenAI's APIs, but its massive popularity comes from the ability to run it with the open source KimmyK215 model that rivals closed models in reasoning at a fraction of the cost. This means you can run OpenClaw with a completely local setup for free.

Those are real advantages. I'm not going to pretend they're not. But here's what I know about this. Every one of those advantages requires something from you.

Technical knowledge, configuration time, ongoing maintenance, security vigilance, monthly server bill, and you're still running a less intelligent model against a sandbox environment that has had documented serious unpatched security vulnerabilities. A high severity remote code implementation vulnerability was disclosed. 800 or more malicious skills were discovered on the OpenClaw Claw Hub skill marketplace, right? Roughly 20% of the ecosystem.

And the high profile incident where a meta AI safety director's inbox got deleted despite repeated commands to stop. This is crazy stuff, right? And so I understand why developers love OpenClaw. I genuinely do.

The flexibility is real. The always-on capability is real. For someone who wants to build a custom AI-powered workflow from scratch and has skills to do it safely, OpenClaw is a remarkable piece of software. But here's the truth about the market.

Most people are not that person. Most people are the consultant who has too many clients, the small business owner who's wearing 15 hats, the marketing manager who has a team of three, and the output requirements of a team of 10. The freelancer who's trying to scale without hiring. Those people don't want to learn Docker.

They just want to scan a QR code and come back to finish work. And that's exactly what Dispatch is promising. Right now, there's a gap between the people who understand this and the people who don't. And that gap is going to close.

But the way it closes is not both groups meeting in the middle. The way it closes is the people who understand it first pull so far ahead that the people catching up are always chasing. I see this pattern constantly. I talked to a freelance co-operator months ago who started using AI seriously.

And they went from like building 60 hours a week to building the same amount in about 20 hours of actual work. They're making the same money, working half the time. And the output quality goes up because they have more time to think and review and make strategic decisions instead of just implementing. There's not a future state.

That's right now. And it's happening to real people, real businesses. But the hardest part is not learning the tools. The hardest part is believing it's actually happening.

Because we're so used to hearing that technology over promises and under delivers. We're so used to hearing that AI is going to change the world and everything and then watching it fumble a simple task. That, when it actually works, when it actually gives you an hour of your life back, it feels like a mistake. Like something went wrong and you have to fix it later.

That resistance is costing people their edge. And I'm not telling you to throw away your critical thinking. I'm not telling you to trust AI with things it has not earned the right to be trusted with. Dispatch working 50% of the time is a real limitation.

I said it before and I'll say it again. You would not bet your business on a 50% hit rate, right? But you would start learning it. You would start understanding it.

You would start figuring out the 10% of your workload, where it works reliably and starts offloading that 10%. Because that 10% today becomes 20%, then 30. And then the model is better than it is in three months than it is today. And that's how it works.

Not a light switch moment. An accumulating advantage. And here's the competitive framing I want to leave you with before I give you some concrete steps. Right now in your industry, there's a small number of people who are actively using AI agents in their work.

They are getting more done. They are billing more hours, or handling more clients, or producing more content, or closing more deals, or writing more code. And they're doing it in less time. Those people are not smarter than you.

They are not working harder than you. They just picked up the tool earlier. And the window for being an early mover on this stuff is still open, but windows closed. That's exactly what the AI Profit Boardroom is built for.

Summarize documents, organize files, research competitors, draft reports. Don't worry about dispatch just yet. Just get comfortable with the base capability. Second, once you're comfortable with Cowork, update the app and try Dispatch.

After updating, a new Dispatch option appears in Cowork that will prompt you to scan a QR code to pair the session with your iPhone or other mobile device. Try it on low stakes tasks. Ask it to pull some data and summarize it. See if it works.

Start building the habit of assigning tasks instead of doing tasks. Third, pay attention to where it fails because it will fail. Dispatch is in research preview. It's not production ready for mission critical work.

But every time it fails, you learn something about where the limits are. And those limits are moving outward every few weeks. Fourth, compare your experience to a month ago. Not to the hype, not to what some YouTube video told you it would do.

To where you actually were a month ago. Are you getting more done? Are you spending less time on the stuff you hate? If the answer is yes, keep going, double down.

If you're a developer or technical person, the picture is more nuanced. OpenClaw is still the better choice if you need true 24-7 automation, messaging integrations and model flexibility. Clawed code wins the coding wars. OpenClaw wins day-to-day automation because of its integration with numerous tools and platforms.

Those are the actual use cases as of right now. But watch Dispatch because the feature is in research preview, which means it's going to ship fast. The gap between Dispatch and OpenClaw's always-on capability is the computer needing to be awake. That's not a hard problem to solve.

It's a product decision and a bit of engineering. When Anthropic solves it, the calculus changes significantly. And for the people who are running businesses and managing teams, here's what I want you to hear. The question is not whether AI agents are going to change how your team works.

That question's already answered. The question is whether you're going to be the person who figured out the gap that opens up when your competitor figured out first. Those are the only two options. There is no stable third option where everything stays the same.

In 2025, Claw transformed how developers work. In 2026, it will do the same for knowledge work. There is a direct quote from Anthropic that says this, and they have not been wrong about their roadmap yet. I want to end with something that I think about when I look at the pace of all this.

The thing that gets me is not the technology, even though the benchmarks are impressive, the fact that you can now text your AI from your phone and come back to a finished report is what's genuinely impressive. What gets me is the human lag. There's always a gap when a technology becomes capable enough to matter, and when most people start actually using it. That gap used to be measured in decades.

Personal computers were invented in the 70s. Most people didn't have one until the 90s. The internet was built in the 60s, but it really changed everything in the late 90s. The smartphone existed in 2007, but it was rebuilt entire industries by 2012.

The gap is collapsing. AI went from a party trick to genuine productivity tool in about 18 months, and the people who are going to be fine are not the people who are the most technically sophisticated. They're the people who are the most psychologically flexible. The people who can look at something that's 50% reliable today and see what it's going to be at 90% reliable in 18 months and start building their skills and their workflows around that trajectory.

That is you. If you're still watching this, that is who you are. The people who click off at the first mention of a QR code, the people who decided six months ago that AI was not for them, those people are already behind, not catastrophically, yet, but the gap is widening every quarter. Not this week, right now. Write down three tasks you do every week that you hate, three things that take your time, but do not require your judgment, so scheduling, research, first drafts, that's where you start. You don't have to transform your entire workflow overnight, you just have to pick three things and figure out if Claude can do them for you.
