New GPT 5.5 + Codex Update: Automate ANYTHING!

ChatGPT Codex just became one of the most powerful AI agents on the planet and this update changes everything. This is a full AI agent now. It controls your computer, it opens your apps, it manages your inbox, it books meetings, it builds websites, it runs on a schedule every single day without you doing anything and it just got 20% faster at all of it. In this video I'm going to show you it reading and replying to real emails, building a real website from scratch, running daily automated tasks on a timer and controlling my computer live, clicking, browsing, typing completely on its own.

This is the update that takes Codex from an encoding tool to an AI agent that can actually handle almost any task you throw at it, technical or non-technical. If you've got repetitive work eating up your day, what I'm about to show you is going to change how you work forever. Let's get into it. So there's a brand new update inside ChatGPT and OpenAI's Codex that makes it way more powerful for the everyday person.

You can automate with it, you're in full control of it, it can use computer use and it can automate real tasks. I'm going to show you exactly how it works step by step. You can see that Sam Allman posted about it today. Now the most important and biggest difference here is it's available for non-coding computer work, right?

So before this was previously a coding tool. Now Codex is available for everyday stuff and I'm going to show you exactly how to use it today. So you can see here that we've just opened up an upgraded and updated Codex. So we're going to get started with this and we can connect through our sample, our emails, we can connect our calendar, we can connect our files.

Now you know what this reminds me of? It reminds me of Cloud Cowork. That's exactly what it feels like and obviously Google Gem and I have already released a recent update for this too. So let's try this now.

We can switch between default permissions, auto review and full access, right? And then you can see some examples here. So you can summarize like recent documents, you can for example sign in with chat GPT, you can connect this with your emails, your calendar etc. So let's for example have a look here and if we go over to for example connect email, we're going to install the Gmail plugin like you can see.

So we're going to start installing that and then we can connect this to Gmail in a second. Now bear in mind that if you are using Codex locally then it can also use apps as well. So it doesn't just for example work only with coding tasks and that sort of thing. It can control your computer and everything else.

Now also what's new here is that Codex now controls your computer and browser 20% faster than before. So it is 20% faster than it's been before which means less waiting around, it gets tasks done quicker and you get your time back faster for computer and browser use which is pretty amazing. So we can see an example here. We'll say use Gmail to summarize exec and recent requests right and so you can see how this has gone from what was previously considered a coding tool aka Codex to something that is more general and more like a super app for everyone right in a very similar way to what was happening with Claude Coworks.

You can see it's using Gmail here, it's searching through my inbox automatically. Very easy process to start using and also whilst waiting for that let me run through some of the other updates. So it's got a much cleaner design, the whole app looks better now, it's easier to use, it feels more natural and even if you've never used a tool like this before you can figure it out pretty quickly as you've seen. It's very repetitive, it's very easy to understand what's going on.

You can see that it's broken down what's happening inside my inbox right here, the latest requests etc, what's going on, who's emailed me, who needs a reply, what doesn't require any action at all and then I could say for example okay send an email to and then we say the address with a daily of AI automation news just as an example to show you how easy this is and how intuitive it is and then also what we can do inside here is we could schedule this as a task daily which is one of the beautiful things about the automations inside Codex. So if you're using Codex you can actually have daily scheduled tasks which I'll show you. So if we do this and schedule that in as a daily task we can go from there. I'm going to show you so much more cool stuff as well in a second.

So we can actually have parallel agents which means we can work across multiple different projects at the same time. So if you weren't already aware for example this can build out websites. This actually built a website for me right here as you can see. Now we can use chatgpt image 2.0 in here to generate amazing images.

We can create awesome websites like you can see this is all easy to set up and easy to install. You can see here that it's scheduled the task and it's already created that right now and if we say okay run an example here so you can see that we've scheduled in that daily automation email task. It's running for us automatically and in the meantime we can work on a different project right. So you can see here I could say okay open this up in my browser and show me what it looks like.

Bear in mind you've already got like an example of the computers here. Literally to create this it was so simple and easy. So all we did was say create a beautiful website for this, inserted what we wanted and then it went off and did it right. And now it can use its browser skill as well to open this up directly too.

Now if we go back to the email task you can see that it's got this action we can approve it. We can select on always allow or allow for this chat. So if we click on always allow then we take that and then we hit allow. That'll be able to send emails for us automatically in the future as well.

So we've got this email agent and it sent the example email so we can open that up. Let's have a look inside the inbox and see what it sent us and boom shakalaka look at that right. It's just pulled in all the latest AI automation news, sent us an update and now we've got the email from Codex right. Pretty amazing stuff.

So you can organize your email, send emails, automate all of those sort of tasks which is super useful for 99% of people watching I think. And then also you can see over here that we can open up and start using the browser use right. So if we click on always allow we can allow that task and now it's going to open up the in-app browser preview which we've got over here and it can actually navigate the task. So this is the AI using the page right and it's navigating the page.

I'm not touching anything here. It's literally just doing it all by itself which is amazing and it will explain what it's doing on the left hand side. So over here we have the preview of where it's using the browser. On the left hand side we've got the details in the chat of exactly what's happening.

And there's so much more to this. This is one of those apps where the more you use it the more you discover what you can potentially do with it. And I'm not hyping up chat cheapity or anything like that. I've rarely used chat cheapity directly inside the browser but Codex itself is a great tool.

It's super powerful and it's a lot better than anyone who used like the first version of this. Now what we can also do for example is we can create slides and spreadsheets so it can create and build PowerPoint slides for us now. It can also build spreadsheets as well. You just describe what you want and it builds it right.

So if we go over to a new chat here we have to open up another folder right. If you're setting up a new project always set up a new folder to go with that and that is a folder that's going to be local directly on your laptop or your computer. So for example here we can set up another folder and we are going to call this one presentation right. And so we can open that up like so.

We could take the latest information on Codex and then we could say okay create a beautiful presentation about this right and the new updates plus how to use it if you're running a business right. So what we're doing here is we're creating the presentation and we can just switch between chats on the left hand side. So on the left hand side we've got a presentation being built here. We have the email automator over here that can manage our emails.

This is an AI agent that runs autonomously. We schedule tasks so that we don't need to check in each day and then we also have for example the website where it's like opening up the browser and scrolling through it and everything else. Now we could also open up another example and we could actually get this to run terminal for us too or we could actually get it to set up AI agents for us So for example we could add a new project here or we could just use the existing chat or switch between a folder we've previously used and we could say okay open up calculator and type something right just to show you how this can actually use apps locally. So this is using your computer right which means that if you're clicking buttons you don't really need to do that anymore.

So you can see it's opening up the calculator here we can just allow that and then you can see that it's looking in the calculator and clicking inside the calculator for us so you can actually operate and use apps locally on our computer. It's a really powerful computer use agent that actually works right it's not something where it works 50% of the time or 20% of the time. Every time I use it it's worked and it's never really failed on me for basic tasks. I'm not going to tell it to do something crazy that's super complicated but just for a basic task we can use that right and so the presentation is being built in the background here too.

Now what you've also got is role based onboarding so when you first set this up it's actually going to ask you who you are right what you do and based on your answer it will suggest the best tools for your job so it's going to show you the most useful things for you. Everyone's use case is different everyone does different things day to day and then you can also connect this to your existing apps which is what we did for example with gmail before and if we go to the automation section here you can see the different automations that we have running here if you want to delete or pause any you can just do it like so so we can delete these if we want to clean this up and we don't really use this stuff so we're deleting these as you can see and then it actually gives you a bunch of automation ideas and templates you could use here.
