I'm Julian Golding and today we're breaking down the NVIDIA Mistral partnership, what it means, why it matters and what's coming next. Let's get into it. What just happened? So on March 16, 2026 at NVIDIA's GCC event, Mistral announced a strategic partnership with NVIDIA to co-develop frontier open source AI models.

But here's where it gets interesting. This isn't just two companies shaking hands. NVIDIA launched something called the Nemetron coalition. This is a group of top AI labs coming together under one umbrella.

We're talking Mistral AI, Black Forest Labs, Perplexe and others. And the goal is to build the most powerful open source AI platform in the planet using NVIDIA's DGX cloud infrastructure. Jensen Huang, NVIDIA's CEO, framed this as a direct response to the rise of closed models. He wants transparency.

He wants openness. And now he's funding it. Alongside the partnership announcement, Mistral dropped a brand new model, Mistral Small Form. And this thing is a beast, right?
