OpenClaw Is Dead. Claude AI Cowork Won

OpenClaw is dead. I know that sounds dramatic, but stick with me for the next few minutes, because what just happened in the AI world is going to change how you work for good. Now, let's talk about why OpenClaw lost. I want to be fair here. OpenClaw is genuinely good at certain things. OpenClaw is better when you need actual PC control, local execution, and multi-messenger workflow automation.

If you want to text your AI on WhatsApp at midnight and have it do something, OpenClaw can do that. But here's the reality check. Between January and February 2026, security researchers found over 30,000 exposed OpenClaw instances on the public internet. A high-severity remote code execution flaw was discovered that could have allowed attackers to gain full control through a single malicious link.

Researchers demonstrated that attackers can establish persistent backdoors by injecting malicious instructions into OpenClaw's memory file. Trend Micro reported real-world data breaches involving millions of records, including API tokens, private messages, and credentials. That's not a minor issue. That's a disaster.

A security firm also found that 7.1% of skills in the Claw Hub marketplace leak credentials. So one in 14 skills in the OpenClaw app store is quietly handing out your passwords. Let that land for a second. Compare that to Clawed Co-Work.
