This Agent OS Changed How I Work Forever

Today I want to talk about how I built my own agent operating system. So I actually built one from scratch, wasn't downloaded, not paid for. You can actually build your own for free and it was easier than I expected. So I'm going to show you in this video how I built it using Claude and show you exactly how I did it, what it does and how you can build your own.

So this is what I call the agent operating system, AgentOS, and when you understand what it is and what it can do, you're going to see your whole workflows very differently. So let me start with what it actually is and how it works. So most people use, you know, AI like a vending machine. You walk up, you type something in, you get an answer, you walk away.

That's it. Like one question, one answer over and over again, but an agent operating system is different because it's literally a system, right? So you can see, for example, if I'm automating SEO, I've got it all inside one workflow, one hub, and it's a single place where multiple agents live, coordinate, work together, right, on your behalf. So you're not like going in and out of different apps and tabs.

Everything is one place and the agents inside it are connected to your real life, right, so your notes, your goals, your tasks, your memory. Here's what mine actually looks like. So I've got a dashboard, it runs in a browser, it's got a sidebar with different agents that I can talk to. Each one has a different job.

One handles content, one handles business tasks, one is for thinking through decisions, and one is connected to my obsidian vault, and that's where all of my notes live with all of my memories, all organized into a beautiful knowledge system like this and everything coordinated together. We also have a journal, a memory system that remembers everything across conversations and even a voice input that I can actually talk to, not just type. And the whole thing, I built it with Claude using conversation. No coding background was required here.

I don't code and I don't understand code. And here's what hit me when I finished it. I opened it up and it felt like sitting down at a control center because everything is one place. My AI wasn't just answering questions anymore, it knew who I was, it knew my goals, it knew what I'd been working on.

It was ready to work. And that's the difference between using AI and building with AI. Most people are still using it, but the people who are pulling the head right now in 2026 are building with it. And the gap between those two groups is getting wider every single month.

So let me walk you through exactly how I built this, what I used, what I learned, and the key decisions that actually mattered. The first thing you need to understand is what is an agent operating system actually made of, because it sounds complicated, but it's not. At the core, it's three things. Front end, that's what you see and interact with.

So the dashboard, the chat box is a sidebar. A set of agents, and these are just AI models with specific instructions telling them what their job is. So one might be a content strategist, one might be a business coach, one might be just handling your monthly planning. And then you have a memory and data layer.

And this is what connects your agents to your actual life. Your notes, your history, your goals. That's it. Front end, some agents, and a data layer.

Everything else is just layers on top of those three things. Now, when I first started building mine, I made a classic mistake, which was I tried to build everything at once. I wanted the full dashboard, voice input, obsidian integration, memory, goals, journal, all in one go. But that was the wrong move.

Here's what I'd do differently next time. Start with one agent, just one. Give it one job, get it working, then build from there. So the first agent that I'd build, if I was starting again today, is a daily planning agent.

So you can open it up in the morning, you tell it what you've got on, it asks you a couple of questions, it helps you prioritize your day. That's it. It's very simple, but already more useful than most people's current AI setup. And once that's working, you add a second agent.

Maybe a content agent, a task manager, or something specific to your business. You could also add specific types of agents, like we've got Hermes, OpenClaw, and Claude over here, Gemini, AntiGravity, Codex, and FreeClaw to code. But the point is this, systems compound. Every agent you add makes the whole thing more powerful.

And here's where it gets really interesting, because once you're running and you've got two or three agents running, you start to see what's actually possible. And what's possible is a lot bigger than most people realize. Now, let me talk about how I actually built this for Claude, and this is important too, because a lot of people hear, I built an app or an agent operating system, and assume you need to know how to code. You actually don't.

Not anymore. Not in 2026. I just described what I wanted. Claude built this in.

I gave it feedback. Claude updated it. We went back and forth, and that's it. Here's the kind of prompts that got something like this.

And I said something like, you know, build me a personal AI dashboard. It should have a sidebar of different agents I can talk to. Each agent should have a specific job. I want it to run in my browser, look clean and modern, and feel like a command center for my work.

Claude came back with a working scaffold, a real dashboard in the browser. From there, every new feature was a conversation. So, for example, I said, add a voice input button to every chat box. Done.

Add an obsidian vault integration so the agents can read my notes. Done. Build a goal section where I can track what I'm working towards. Done.

And the whole build was basically a very long conversation. I wasn't writing code. I was describing what I needed. And this is the thing most people aren't grasping yet.

The skill isn't knowing how to code. The skill is knowing what to ask for, knowing what good looks like, being able to describe the outcome you want clearly enough that the agent can actually implement it. That skill, describing systems, thinking in outcomes, breaking down what actually you need, that's a skill that matters in 2026. And it's very learnable.

Link in the comments description or go to theaiprofitballroom.com to get access. Now, let me talk about the memory system because this was the biggest unlock for me, right? By default, AI has no memory. So every conversation starts from zero.

It doesn't know who you are. It doesn't know what you worked on yesterday. It doesn't know your goals, your business, or your clients. You have to kind of re-explain yourself every single time.

And that's fine when you're using AI casually, but when you're trying to build a system you rely on every single day and automate your business, that becomes a massive problem. So the memory system actually built in fixes that. It works by maintaining a set of files, things like, for example, who I am, what my business does, what my current goals are, who I work with, what I've been working on, my key decisions, everything I've made, right? And every time I open the dashboard, those agents already know who I am before I say a single word.

So instead of starting every session with, hey, I run a SEO agency, I also do this, I also do that, my community is called the AI Profit Boarding, blah, blah, blah, everything is built into the memory system. And this is set up inside our obsidian vault. And the agents just know all of that, right? I can just start working.

Now, that sounds small, but it's not. It fundamentally changes how the interaction feels. It stops feeling like talking to a tool. It starts feeling like working with someone you already know, right?

And somebody knows you. The way that I set up mine is basically I've got a obsidian vault with a memory MD file, which is basically a document about me, my business, my goals, my context. We've got a sole MD file inside Hermes as well. And that's more about how I like to work, my preferences, my communication style.

And every time the agents start a session, they read my memory and my recent notes automatically. Now, we also have something called OMI, and OMI automatically takes notes on me, memories on me, and then I can automatically export that to obsidian for new memories each day, right? And you can set that up yourself. You don't need anything fancy.

Obsidian is just plain markdown files. And here's something I want to address directly too, because I know some of you are thinking it. You're thinking, I'm not technical enough. I can't do this, right?

That's a belief I want to challenge because when I started building this, I wasn't doing it as a developer. I was doing it as a business owner who wanted a better system. The technical side was handled by Claude. What I brought to it was clarity.

I knew what I needed. I could describe what good would look like. I could give feedback when something wasn't right. That's not a technical skill.

It's a business skill. It's a communication skill. It's a thinking skill. And if you run a business, you already have it.

The barrier to building your own agent operating system in 2026 isn't coding ability. It's the ability and the belief that you can do it. If you just get started on this today, you can get it done. I mean, people are building these systems right now.

We've got tons of members inside there, profitable people, business owners, freelancers, content creators, agency operators, people with no coding background. And they're building out custom dashboards. They're automating workflows. They're setting up agent systems to run parts of their business whilst they sleep.

So if they can do it, you can do it. Now, let me get into the specific agents I built and what they actually do because I want this to be concrete, not abstract. If we go into, for example, my SEO content agent, it already knows about me, my subset, my audience, my tone of voice, right? So when I'm working on a blog post, I don't start from zero, right?

I open the content agent, tell it the topic, and it starts helping me shape the angle, the hook, the structure. It already knows how I like to write. It already understands what's worked before. Same with my AI agent for goals, right?

It knows what I'm working on, what my goal is, and it helps me prioritize my work without me having to think about it too hard at like 7 a.m. in the morning. You know, my video agent, I can just describe the topic that I want, and it can go off and start creating content like this and automatically putting it into a beautiful video, right? And then there's my Obsidian setup as well.

So if we've got Hermes, for example, Hermes can read my entire notes for, right, thousands of notes, ideas, research, meetings, summaries. I don't have to manage that because it's automatically being created through OMI, like I mentioned before. And so you've got thousands of notes, ideas, everything else, and I can just ask it questions, and it'll pull out relevant answers from things that I wrote months ago, right? So having a second brain you can actually talk to.

And each of these agents has a specific system prompt. That's the instructions telling it what its job is, what it knows about me, how it should behave. So writing those system prompts well is the real craft. A good system prompt is a difference between an agent that feels generic and one that feels like it was built specifically for you.

Now, let me talk about the memory layer here. So we've got 2,000 memories recorded, as you can see. And so this is where a lot of people get stuck, but you can see it's all beautifully organized into a knowledge chart that my agents can pull data from. So the data layer is really what makes your agents actually useful for your specific situation, right?

It's a connection between your AI and your real life. For me, that's Obsidian. All my notes live there, my journal entries, my research, my goals, my meeting notes. So when my agents can read those files, they stop being generic and they start being contextual AI, right?

They know my actual automations. And it doesn't have to be inside Obsidian. It could be Notion. It could be Google Drive.

It could be a folder of text files on your desktop. The format matters less than the fact that your context is somewhere the agent can access it, right? And here's the simplest version of this that you can start with today. You could take a plain text file, write down who you are, what your business does, who your customers are, what your current goals are, and what you're working on right now.

Then you save it somewhere, and that file is your context layer, right? You can hand it to an agent at the start of every conversation. Immediately, that agent becomes more useful than any generic AI chat interface because you've got one file, and that's the first step, and then you can build it up from there. And the cool thing is, after building the agent operating system, everything changes because I can open up one dashboard when my agent's ready.

They're not scattered across different tabs and terminals. They know who I am. I can move between them without losing context. My research from two weeks ago is accessible.

My goals are visible in the sidebar whilst I work. My content agent remembers the style of the last five videos I've scripted. So the best way I can describe it is this. It's the difference between having a filing cabinet and having a personal assistant, right?

Some information, but one is organized, and one is very intelligent. And the other is just a pile of folders. So your agent operating system is your personal assistant, built specifically for you, available 24-7, never tired, never forgetful, always ready. And here's the thing about building it yourself, rather than getting it off the shelf, right?

If you, for example, were using Hermes off the shelf inside your terminal, you didn't build it, so you don't understand it, right? And you can't change it. You can't extend it. But with this system, you can add a new agent in when you need one.

You can update the memory files when your situation changes. You own it, right? And tools you buy are just built for everyone. But a system you build is built for you.

So if you want the actual steps for getting started on this, because I don't want this to be a video where, you know, you watch it and do nothing. Step number one is you pick one problem in your business or workflow that AI could help with. Not a general, like, be more productive goal, but one specific, something like, for example, I spend too long writing client emails, or I take ages to research topics before recording, or I lose track of my priorities by lunchtime, right? Step number two, add that into an agent operating system and ask Claude, for example, to write and create that dashboard for you, right?

So if you, for example, need something like this, you could say, okay, build out a dashboard with a mission control for anti-gravity CLI. Could be as simple as that, if that's what you're using day to day. And then you can customize that prompt to whatever agent you use. Step number three is make sure that you have OMI with Obsidian set up.

It's really good for just creating a second brain, connecting all your agents to your goals, your projects, everything else. And then from there, just keep tweaking and improving daily.
