Google's new XR AI stuns the world. Google just dropped something that made my jaw hit the floor. They built a tool that turns a sentence, just a sentence, into a fully working interactive 3D world you can walk around in. Not a mock-up, not a slideshow, a real live extended reality experience.

And it does it in under 60 seconds. That's what we're talking about today. Google's new AI tool just broke open a door that's been locked for years. And it matters for anyone who creates anything.

Let me show you exactly what happened, why it's a bigger deal than most people realize, and what it means for you. Here's a number that stopped me cold. 95.5%. That's the success rate when you type a prompt into Google's new system and ask it to build an extended reality experience from scratch.

One shot, no tweaks, no back and forth. 95.5% of the time, it just works. Think about what that means. You type, create a chemistry lab where students can safely do experiments.

And within a minute, sometimes less than 20 seconds, you're standing inside a 3D lab, picking up virtual bottles, watching reactions happen around you. Not a concept, not a prototype that needs six more months. A real thing working right now. Google's own team said a senior XR engineer would spend a full day building what this tool does in a minute.

A full day, compressed into 60 seconds. That's not an update, that's a phase change. But wait, what is XR? So, quick version.

XR stands for extended reality. It covers augmented reality, virtual reality, and anything that mixes the digital world with the virtual world. And think like, for example, smart glasses, mixed reality headsets, virtual environments you can walk around in. Until now, building XR experiences required serious technical skills.

You needed to know Unity or Unreal Engine. You needed 3D modeling. You needed to understand spatial computing. Now, objects behave in physical space.

How hands, for example, interact with virtual objects, and how scale and depth work. That's why XR has mostly stayed inside big tech companies and specialist studios. What Google did is remove all of that. The tool is called XR Blocks.

It's free, it's open source, and when you pair it with Google's Gemini AI, you can build XR experiences just by describing what you want. So, for example, a dandelion that blows away when you pick it up. An interactive solar system. A volleyball court where the ball responds to your real hands.

All from a text prompt. Here's how it actually works, and this is the part I find fascinating. Google didn't just point Gemini at a blank canvas and say, go build stuff. They built something called an XR Blocks gem.

Think of it as a custom version of Gemini that's been trained specifically to be an expert in spatial computing. The gem knows the rules of physical space. It knows how objects should be scaled relative to a real room. It knows how far apart things should be.

It knows what makes an interactive XR experience feel real versus feel wrong. When you type your prompt, Gemini doesn't just generate generic code. It generates spatial design. It thinks about where you'd be standing, what you'd reach for, how the experience would feel when you're actually inside.

And that's a completely different intelligence than what normal vibe coding tools do. And here's the open loop I want you to hold on to for a second. Google built eight working demos for the announcement. One of them visualizes real NASA exoplanet data.

Another teaches quantum physics using Schrodinger's cat. Another is a physics lab with a lever and weights where you learn balance by actually lifting things. We'll come back to all that and what that means in a second for you specifically, because the implications go way beyond education. Now, I want to be honest with you.

I know some of you are thinking, Julian, I've heard this before. Every AI demo looks amazing. And then you try to use it in real life and it falls apart. And that's fair.

That's a real concern. But here's what's different this time. First, these aren't hand-picked demos. Google ran a formal benchmark, 60 different prompts from 20 separate people across four workshops.

That's not a cherry-picked showreel. That's a stress test. Second, Google published their failure story alongside the success story. This is some started out actually a 70% accuracy rating six months ago.

It went through 11 major releases to get to 95.5% and they showed their work. That tells me this is real engineering, not vaporware. And third, and this is the detail that most people are missing. Everything XRBlocks creates becomes a shareable web link.

Not an app you have to download. Not something locked inside a headset. A link like a web page that changes distribution completely. Imagine sending a client a link that opens a 3D interactive product demo in their browser.

No download, no install, no friction. That's not a small thing. Now, if you're running an agency creating content or selling anything online, here's where this gets real for you. A marketing agency can now build interactive 3D product demo for a client.

His idea was simple. Stop writing code. Just describe what you want. Let the AI figure out the implementation.

Within a year, Y Combinator reported that 25% of their startup batch had codebases that were 95% AI generated. 25% in one year. Now, Vibe Coding has hit extended reality. The last major creative domain that required deep specialist skills just got democratized.

And I keep saying, every time a new layer of technical skill gets automated, the people who win aren't the ones who fight it. They're the ones who move up the stack, who focus on ideas, strategy, taste, and relationships, and let the AI handle the implementation. Google's extended reality tool is built on WebXR, which means it runs in Chrome, works across devices, and isn't locked in to Apple's ecosystem or Meta's platform. The outputs are standards compliant.

The framework is open source. That means that it really matters because this isn't like a walled garden. It's a foundation, right? The team behind it includes Riccardo Cabello, better known as Mr.

Doob, the creator of 3.js, one of the most widely used 3D graphics libraries on the web. And this isn't like a skunkworks project. This is a serious infrastructure built by serious people. Here's where this trajectory is going.

Google's team published something interesting in their research paper. They're working toward what they call an LLM-driven cross compiler, a system that could take your XR blocks and automatically translate it into native code for Unity or Unreal, the engines that power real production apps. Now, that doesn't exist yet, but it's on the roadmap. When it does exist, the gap between I made a prototype and I shipped a product goes from months to hours.

That's the trajectory. That's the direction of travel. And I want to be clear, you don't need to have a headset to start exploring this right now. XR blocks runs in Chrome desktop with a built-in simulator.

You can try the demos today. You can start understanding the creative space before the hardware becomes mainstream, because the hardware is coming. Samsung just launched the Galaxy XR headset. Google I.O.

is in May. This is not a distant future conversation. This is a right now conversation. So what should you actually do with this?
