01What the Hermes Agent Meshy plugin is and how it works
The Hermes Agent Meshy plugin lets you type one sentence to Hermes Agent and get back a real 3D model. You can spin it around in the chat, send it to a 3D printer or drop it into a game.
Nous Research released the official plugin. It went live on October 1st, 2026, and got its latest update on October 22nd.
Julian Goldie gives two examples. You can ask Hermes to turn a photo of your mug into a 3D model that is ready to print. You can also ask for a low poly treasure chest for your game.
This matters even if you have never touched 3D. It used to be a skill, with hard apps like Blender, hours of lessons and broken shapes to fix by hand. Now the skill is knowing what to ask for.
02The problem the Hermes Agent Meshy plugin solves
Making a 3D model has always been lots of little jobs stuck together. Julian lists them.
- Make the shape.
- Paint it.
- Clean up the shape so it is not a mess.
- Change it to the right size.
- Save it to the right file type.
- If you want to print it, check it will not fall apart and fix the weak parts.
- Send it to the printer app.
Each of those jobs lived in a different place, with different tools, buttons and file types. One person Julian quotes said that getting a clean model at the right size used to eat a whole evening in Blender.
The plugin puts all of those jobs in one place, and your agent does the clicking.
03Main features: the 28 tools in the Hermes Agent Meshy plugin
The plugin gives Hermes 28 separate tools to use with Meshy. Julian splits them into groups.
- Create (6 tools): text to 3D, image to 3D, many images to 3D, text to image, image to image, and one that takes a rough model and finishes it.
- Clean up and change (5 tools): rebuild the shape, repaint it, change the file type, change the size, and UV unwrapping, which is like peeling an orange flat so you can paint the skin neatly.
- Characters (4 tools): add a skeleton, make it move, make one from a text description, and pick from ready made moves.
- 3D printing (7 tools): the biggest group.
- The rest check jobs in your account.
All 28 tools take about 19,000 tokens to describe. But they load only when you need them, like grabbing one tool from a garage toolbox. So they cost nothing in chat until Hermes uses one.
04Costs, credit limits and file rules
Julian shares three numbers that many people skip.
- Credits. Most Meshy tools cost credits, between 5 and 62 credits per call depending on the job.
- The 200 credit limit. There is a 200 credit limit per chat. When a chat gets close to it, Hermes stops and asks you again, even if you turned the questions off.
- Three days. Files from Meshy servers go away after three days.
Free jobs run on their own, and paid jobs ask first. This keeps you in charge of what gets spent.
Looking at a model in your chat does not save it. If you want to keep a model, you need to save the file. Julian warns that this will catch people out, so save the files you like.
05What is new: Meshy's own server and a skill
You could already connect Meshy and Hermes yourself if you knew how. Julian explains what is new with the official plugin.
First, it uses Meshy's own MCP server. An MCP server is like a plug that lets an agent talk to another app the right way. Nous Research did not build a copy.
They used Meshy's own plug, version 0.6.5, released on October 22nd, and locked that version in place.
They do not just grab the newest one each time. A person checks every update before it reaches you, so it will not break overnight.
Second, there is a skill. Meshy's server comes with rules, such as telling you the cost before you spend credits and not restarting a job if you are unsure it worked. That stops you paying twice for the same model.
Hermes does not pass server rules to the AI. So Nous Research put them in a skill, which is like a recipe card the agent reads before it cooks. The skill also teaches Hermes to pick the file type first, since a game and a printer need different types.
06Using the Hermes Agent Meshy plugin in Hermes desktop
In Hermes desktop, a model shows up in your chat as a card. You can click it and check it without opening another app.
- Spin it around and zoom in.
- Turn on a wireframe to see the lines the shape is built from.
- Turn on a grid to see the size.
- Watch progress while it builds, such as Meshy 38 percent preview.
When it is done, the card has a menu listing every file type Meshy made. For a finished model that is GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL and USDZ. STL is the one 3D printers love, and USDZ is the one iPhones use to show 3D things in your room.
Those are free because Meshy already made them. If you need a type that is not there, a convert button does cost credits.
Every model also goes into a gallery with a made from section. It shows your prompt, the settings, the seed, the credits and the chain of steps. You can copy prompts and jump back to the chat that made it.
On the go, you can also get a short preview on your phone.
073D printing and who the Hermes Agent Meshy plugin is for
Seven of the 28 tools are for printing, which shows how much it matters. A model can look perfect on screen and still fail on a printer. A wall may be too thin, or a part may float in midair.
The plugin can do these jobs.
- Check how printable a model is, then fix weak spots.
- Make a model with many colors in a 3MF file, which carries the colors.
- Cut a big model into smaller parts that fit your printer, so you can glue them together.
- Send the model straight to your slicer, and find which slicer you have.
A slicer cuts a model into thin layers like slicing bread. So you can go from a photo of a broken cupboard knob to a part ready to print in one chat.
Julian says the gallery is the quiet winner, because it remembers every prompt, setting and step so you can make a good model again. The plugin is for anyone who wants product views, printed items or game characters without learning Blender.
