01What Claude Code Free Is and How It Works

Claude Code free is a way to use Claude Code without paying for a Claude subscription. You plug in free APIs like N2! to get coding help. In this episode, Julian Goldie shows how to set this up.

N2! is a new API based on Qwen 3.5 architecture. It works with text and images. It's made for coding, tool use, deep research, and long agentic workflows.

You can get N2! on OpenRouter, and it has a 262k context window. The best part is it's free to use as an API.

You use an open source project called Free Claude Code. It lets you connect free APIs just like Ollama does with Claude Code. This way, you get the power of Claude Code's harness but with free models like N2!.

02Main Features of the Free Setup

The setup has several cool features. First, you can voice control it. You tap the mic, say what you want, and N2! builds it.

Second, it saves every voice build in your workspace. You can see all your projects in one place.

You can also teach it skills. Just like Claude Code skills, you can give Free Claude Code skills. For example, with hyperframes, you can teach it to create videos.

Julian showed a video made with Free Claude Code and N2!.

Another feature is the memory system. Everything you do is logged. You can come back to conversations and see them in a memory galaxy.

This helps other agents share the same memory and work together.

Finally, you can use N2! with other tools. Hermes Agent, Pi, Killo Code, and more. It's a flexible brain you can plug into different systems.

03How to Get Started with Claude Code Free

Getting started is simple. Here are the steps Julian showed:

  1. Go to the open source project called Free Claude Code.
  2. Set it up on your system, similar to how you'd set up Ollama with Claude Code.
  3. Go to OpenRouter and get the N2! API key (it's free).
  4. Plug the N2! API into Free Claude Code.
  5. Optionally, get the Agent OS system to have voice control and memory features.

If you want the full setup with voice and workspace, you can get it inside the AI Profit Boardroom. Or you can just set up the open source project yourself. Julian's setup includes the Goldie Voice Factory, which lets you speak your ideas and watch them build.

04How to Use It: Voice Build and Examples

Once set up, using it is easy. You can type a prompt or use voice. Julian showed a basic example: he said "create a to-do list app." The system took the prompt, and N2! built the app live.

He also showed a visual demo he created with N2!. It was a cool little visual that the model coded itself. Another example was a habit tracker and a meditation timer, all built with this system.

You can also test the model in Hermes Agent. Julian asked, "Are you working?" and it responded. He asked, "What API are you using?" and it answered.

This shows you can chat with N2! through agentic harnesses.

To build with voice, flip the engine to N2!, tap the mic, and speak your idea. The system builds it while you watch. Then you find the result in your workspace.

You can refine it later or come back to it.

05Results and Comparisons from the Episode

Julian tested N2! with several tools. He saw it working with Hermes Agent, replying quickly. On OpenRouter, since it came out on June 8th, it's been used most with Claude Code and Hermes Agent.

He also mentioned Pi, which is what OpenClaw was built on, as another option.

He compared N2! to using Claude directly. He said it's not as powerful as Claude with Fable 5, for example. But it's still good for coding and automation.

He noted that N2! sometimes gets token limited. If it stops working, it might be because you used too much. So free doesn't mean unlimited.

He also showed how you can plug N2! into an idea factory pipeline. You take an idea, shape it, approve it, and build it. This is how he built the habit tracker and meditation timer.

It turns ideas into apps quickly.

06Tips, Limits, and Mistakes to Avoid

Here are some tips and warnings from Julian:

  • Free doesn't mean unlimited. Expect token limits, especially if you use it a lot.
  • It's not as powerful as paid Claude models. Keep that in mind for complex tasks.
  • You can teach it skills, like hyperframes for video creation. This expands what it can do.
  • Use the memory system. It logs all your conversations and projects, so you can return later.
  • Don't worry if you're not a coder. You just say a sentence, and N2! writes the code.
  • Try it for free before deciding. Test it with a simple idea.

Julian also said that building with voice is fun. But you can type prompts too if you prefer. The system saves everything, so you won't lose ideas.

07Who It's For and Why It Matters

This setup is for anyone who wants to code without coding. If you have ideas but no skills, you can just speak them. It's also for people who don't want to pay for Claude or other subscriptions.

You can build apps, automate tasks, and even make videos with skills. It's a way to turn every idea into a live app just by talking. You avoid waiting for a dev team or coding yourself.

It matters because it lowers the barrier. You don't need to be a developer. You can iterate quickly in an idea factory, from concept to implementation.

And with shared memory, your agents work together.

Julian mentioned that you can get the full setup in the AI Profit Boardroom, but you can also set it up yourself from open source. The choice is yours. It's free to test, so why not try?
