NEW Claude Code Cloud DESTROYS OpenClaw

New Claude. Cloud. Destroys OpenClaude. So something just happened that nobody saw coming.

Anthropic just shipped two updates to Claude code and they are not small. The first one lets Claude run tasks in the cloud. No laptop needed, just your machine working with Claude and it just keeps going. The second one lets you control Claude from your phone right now through Telegram or Discord.

And together these two things just took everything OpenClaude was famous for. And made it built in. So let me explain exactly what happened. Why this matters for every single person who runs a business, manages a team or wants to use AI to get more done.

OpenClaude was built by a guy named Peter Steinberger. The idea was simple, an autonomous AI agent that was running 24-7. The problem was that it had a lot of security problems. So the setup actually took quite a long time to set up as well.

It was quite technical. But also researchers found over 135,000 exposed instances sitting wide open on the internet for OpenClaude. That was a gap. People wanted the results, nobody wanted the risk.

Until this week. So on March 20th, 2026, Anthropic announced two new features for Claude code. Number one was Cloud Scheduled Tasks and Channels. Let me walk you through what each of these means.

So number one, Cloud Scheduled Tasks. Your AI keeps working even when your laptop is off. Before this, if you wanted Claude to run something on schedule, your computer had to be on. Your Claude session had to be running.

You had to be awake, basically. And that was the gap. That was the exact thing OpenClaude solved by running on a server 24-7. And Claude couldn't do it.

But now it can. So Claude code now has a cloud-based scheduled task feature. So you can specify a repository, a schedule, a prompt, and Claude automatically implements the task through cloud infrastructure. There's no need to keep a local Claude code instance running.

And think about what that means. So, for example, you just go to the website Claude.ai. You pick a task. You tell it how often to run.

You go to sleep. Claude just does it. So, for example, every day at 9 a.m., check all my open client work and flag anything overdue. And every morning, it pulls your website analytics and sends you a summary.

Or every Friday, for example, look at my content calendar and tell me what needs updating. You can write it once. It's done. You forget about it.

Now, this could, for example, include daily briefings that summarize messages and emails. It could be weekly reports compiled from spreadsheets and connected tools. It could be recurring research that tracks topics, competitors, or industry news on a regular schedule. And for an agency owner, this is huge, too.

You could have Claude checking every single client account every single morning and flagging anything before that needs your attention. Before you've had your coffee, even. Every day. For a creator, you could have Claude scan your niche every morning, send you a list of trending topics, your content ideas, waiting for you when you wake up.

And if you're running an e-commerce store, for example, you could have Claude pulling the sales data every night. So, this is what agentic actually looks like in practice. You write a prompt once. You set the schedule.

Let it run locally or in the cloud. And here's the key difference from OpenClaw. It fires exact times. It runs on Adfropics' own cloud infrastructure.

You don't need to configure it over a server. You don't need to keep your laptop running. And you don't need to think about security or even think about getting a Mac Mini. You set it up and it works.

The setup is not 15 hours or 20 minutes with, for example, Terminal. You literally just go to claude.ai forward slash code. You click schedule. You pick your repo, your frequency, your prompt.

You click save. Boom, shakalaka, that's it. OpenClaw promised you could set AI tasks on autopilot. Claude Code just delivered it with none of the setup, none of the security nightmare, and none of the complexity.

Now, let me talk about the second thing here because this one changes how you interact with AI forever as well. You've also got something called Claude Code Channels. So, you can talk to your AI from your phone at any time. This was the other thing OpenClaw had that nobody else did.

You could message OpenClaw from your phone, from Telegram, from WhatsApp, from Discord. And it would message you back when the work was done. And that felt like having a real assistant, someone you could ping at 7 a.m. on the way to a meeting, or someone who would ping you back at 7 p.m.

to say done. Claude Code now does that. Anthropic announced Claude Code Channels, a way to hook up its Claude Code AI agentic harness to a user's Discord or Telegram messaging platforms, letting them message Claude Code directly when they want work whilst on the go. And you can instruct them to do it for them.

So, the concept is pretty straightforward. It's an MCP server, and it connects to your Claude Code session to messaging platforms. So, when you send a message to your bot on Telegram or Discord, the MCP server forwards its Claude. Claude then processes the request using your local environment.

So, for example, files or tools or Git or everything. And then it replies back through the same channel. So, you'll see it in a coffee shop, for example. You can message Claude on Telegram, go off and do this.

It goes off and does it, and then you get a voice note. Or you can, for example, get a message back. You could be out at client meetings with the family, whatever, and you're good to go. And that's basically how it works.

So, before, AI was something that you sat down and used. You opened a laptop, you went to a website or a terminal, you started a session, you waited. Now, it's just always on, it's always there, and it's always ready to go. And it's like a five-minute setup.

So, the channels feature does have limits right now. So, for example, there's no message history. It saves automatically inside the chat. If you want Claude to remember what you talked about from session seven, you do need to save a memory file yourself, which is just like a simple text document where you store important context.

Also, Telegram, it does have a character limit. So, it's a 4096 character limit. And Claude, if it comes up with a really long response, it's going to get cut off. There's also a 20 megabyte download cap.

So, right now, channels doesn't have web browsing built in as well. And the other thing is, and this is a big one, your machine still needs to be on for channels to work. It's not, for example, Claude Code Cloud, where you can connect from anywhere and it's on all the time. Channels connects to Claude Code running on your computer.

So, if your computer is off, the bot won't respond. But, overall, this is only going to get better. This is the worst it's going to be. It's really powerful.

Now, some people say, I run a business, I don't write code. Why does Claude Code matter to me? The thing is, it's not just for coders anymore. It was built for coders originally, but now it can do all sorts of things.

It can automate websites, build landing pages. It can create apps for you. And if you can message it from your phone, and then you can create these projects, well, you're going to need less people. You're going to be able to automate more.

You're going to be able to be more productive whilst you're on the go. So, that's the main thing with this update. Now, let's talk about why OpenClaw specifically isn't in trouble here. Or, sorry, is in trouble here.

OpenClaw had one main advantage over Claude Code. The one thing it did that Claude couldn't, right, it was 24-7, always on, you could message it from your phone. That's gone now. And also, OpenClaw has a lot of security problems.

So, there's a couple of issues right here. Now, I want to be honest with you for a second and just talk to you about something. So, the people who are figuring this out right now, even just the basics, are getting an edge that compounds every single month, right? A freelancer who knows how to set up a Claude Code task, for example, client reporting, saves two, maybe three hours every week.

That's 12 hours a month, which is 144 hours a year. Basically, four full weeks back handed back to you, right? An agency that builds one simple Telegram bot for their team, using channels, cuts down the back and forth on project status by like half, right? And people stop asking you where things are because AI can just tell you.

If you're an e-com operator, you can get a Claude summary for your store and you're good to go on that. And these are not complicated setups. This is not a code that you need to write. This is setting up a schedule and writing a plain English instruction.

Six months ago, Claude Code was a tool for software developers. Full stop, you needed to understand Claude and code to really use it and get the most out of it. Three months ago, Anthropic started opening it up. So better interface, more features for non-technical people.

And this week, scheduled cloud tasks and channels. So these are new updates that are coming out every single day because of the threat of OpenClaude and because of how popular it was as well. And there was actually a quote from Tarek from the Claude Code team who said it plainly. We want to give you a lot of different options in how you talk to Claude remotely.

So that's the direction. I think there's going to be more ways to reach it, more ways to give it work, less time you have to spend in front of your desk. And at a certain point, you're just going to be able to say, do this every day. And then there'll be certain things you don't even think about anymore.

Bear in mind, there's a plugin system as well. And I think that'll be extended so that you can talk to this via WhatsApp or via email even or whatever channels you prefer. So Claude tasks will get smarter. Claude Code cloud will get smarter.

It's more secure than OpenClaude. And the direction is clear, right? AI agents that work for you all day every day through whatever app you already use without you having to become an engineer to set them up. I'm already there, pretty much.

If you want to try channels on Telegram, you just need to update your Claude code, install BUN, and then you can ask it to set up a remote connection. And then with both of these things, you can just test using Claude from your phone and that sort of thing and just see how it goes. I would also compare it versus, for example, OpenClaude and just see which one do you prefer.
