Today we're going to be setting up this agent skill to make Obsidian 10 times more powerful by bringing AI agents into Obsidian. And this uses something called Agent Client Protocol. It's a free plugin that you can plug into your Obsidian to make your notes way more powerful. So if we have a look at an example, you can see how basically you can interact with your notes.
You've got Obsidian on the left hand side and then you've got Claude Code on the right hand side inside Obsidian directly. Now if you're not familiar with what Obsidian is, basically it's a great note taking tool. It's like a knowledge base that you can use and then you can use this to train your agents. Now not only that, but now what you can actually do is augment Obsidian and make it more powerful, make it more interactive by having an agent on the right hand side using this plugin.
So we're going to get this installed and you can see it's actually trending. It's really popular on GitHub right now and it's totally free. So we're going to get straight into this and start using it. So we're going to our terminal here and we'll run these.
So the first thing we need to do is install BRAT, B-R-A-T first. So we need to go to Settings, Community Plugins and Browse. Inside Obsidian, let's find this out now. So Community Plugins is over here and we're going to turn this on.
Then we're going to click on Browse and we'll just install BRAT, which we've got over here. So we'll install that, hit enable and that's installed BRAT. Perfect. Then we need to add the plugin via BRAT.
So we're going to go to Settings, BRAT, Add Beta Plugin. Settings, BRAT, Add Beta Plugin. And we'll paste in the repository details, which is here. Add Plugin and that's going to install this as you can see.
Boom. Alright, so that's set up now. And then we just need to toggle it on. So if we go to Community Plugins, BRAT, make sure you've got it set up.
And Agency Client, which we've got set up now, which is perfect. And then once you've installed BRAT, we now need to install Cloud Code plus the ACP Adapter. So the way that we do this is we copy, like so. Make sure that you've got Cloud Code set up.
And then we also need to install Agent MCP, which we've added now, perfect. And then we just need to authenticate this, right. So if we type in Cloud, that should have Cloud Code running now. We'll click yes, trust the folder and that's working perfectly.
Great. Now what we need to do is we need to find our paths and grab that so we can configure it inside Obsidian. So you can see I've got my paths here. And then if we go to Settings inside Obsidian and Node.js Path.
And we need to go to Agent Client over here. And then we need to go to Built-in Agents inside Agent Client. And from here we configure our path, which you can see over here. So I've got the path from Terminal using these commands.
And then we've got the settings on the left-hand side of Obsidian. And then if we go over to the Agent bit, we can open up the chat, right. So that's the new plugin that we've just added. You can see here it says command not found, so we need to fix this.
Here's what we're going to do. We're going to go to Settings in Obsidian, Agent Client. And now you can see it's working, right. So the way that you get this working here, is once you've installed the BRAT plugin, you want to run inside Terminal, which Claude Agent ACP, right.
So which Claude-Agent-ACP. You type that in Terminal. And then if we go back to Obsidian, go in the settings here. And then go down to Agent Client, select Claude.
And with Claude code, you can now paste in the URL. Now, there's two different folders you'll get back here. You've got this one and this one. This is the one that I used, right.
So you use that folder here that you get from Terminal. Plug it in over here. Don't use the auto-detect. Select Claude Code ACP as a dropdown here.
And then you should be good to go, right. Now if you want to start using the Agent, you'll see the icon in the bottom left, the robot icon, Open Agent Client. And then on the right-hand side, you can start using it like so, right. So that's how you can use the Claude Agent inside Obsidian.
Now what we can do is we can speak to Claude Code and use that to improve our Obsidian database, right, our knowledge base. So you've got Claude Code on the right-hand side. And then we've got our wiki of all the information about us and who we are, et cetera, on the left-hand side, right. Now we can also tag pages in here.
So for example, if we switch between them, we can tag like this. And we can tag different pages in. And now you can see you can actually read your notes from Obsidian here. So these are our notes on the left-hand side.
And this is Claude Code on the right-hand side. Now this is basically we're using Obsidian like a database for all the knowledge and context our AI agents have, right, across Hermes or OpenClaude or anywhere else. And so now we can actually use this to write, right. So you can see it has different tools inside Claude Code.
So it can actually write for us. For example, it's writing this guide on how to improve conversion rates. But then also we can ask it to read for us, right. So we can use this knowledge base as a reference for having conversations with Claude.
Now there's a few ways that would be useful. Number one, we can import it into OpenClaude or Hermes or Claude Code and we can link them together so that it's always got the knowledge and the context we need. And number two, we can actually write new guides about us and organize our knowledge on the right-hand side into Markdown files using Claude Code and then plug that into our Obsidian notes so our knowledge base becomes better, right. And so we can use Obsidian to improve our agents and we use our agents to improve Obsidian, right.
And so we get a better and better context window like this. So if we click on Always Allow, it's now written this new section on how to improve conversion rates. And that's basically a new skill that we've set up to make Obsidian better in the future, right, along with our agents. So that's basically how to use it, how to get access, how it works, et cetera.
Also, if we go inside this section, right, so if we go inside on the left-hand side here, Open Graph View, you'll see that now our notes are becoming more organized and it's sort of organized into this knowledge base, right. So the more information we have, the more this is going to be sort of organized here, right. Now, if we click on the Start Timelapse Animation, it will organize all of the different files, as you can see right here, into a knowledge graph. And we can organize these and move them around and that sort of thing.
We can get the AI to look at it and, you know, organize the knowledge that we have inside our context. But the main thing is we're using Obsidian to create better and better knowledge bases and more context for our AI agents, which makes it more powerful and more useful. So thanks very much for watching. If you want to get all my best video notes on how to use this stuff, feel free to get it inside the AI Profit Boardroom.
