01What Are the Fable 5 Leaks?
Fable 5 leaks are unconfirmed signs that Anthropic's popular AI model is about to return after being removed in June. In this episode, Julian Goldie breaks down three separate clues that all point in the same direction. These clues come from Claude Code, Amazon Bedrock, and AWS documentation.
The leaks suggest that Fable 5 may not only come back but also become part of your subscription plan. This would be a big change from before, when it was only available for a limited time. While nothing is confirmed, the signals are strong and multiple sources are showing the same thing.
02Three Key Fable 5 Leaks Explained
Julian Goldie highlights three main updates that hint at Fable 5's return. Each one is a separate trail, and together they make a stronger case.
- Claude Code strings: The update v2.1.190 changed an old line that said "Fable 5 purchased separately from your plan" to "you've used your Fable 5 usage for this week." This suggests a weekly token allowance inside subscriptions.
- Amazon Bedrock catalog: The model page is live again, listed by Anthropic. This is a stronger sign than just strings.
- AWS Docs and model cards: The model lifecycle is marked as active, with IDs for both standard and global versions.
All three updates appeared around the same time, which makes it more likely that something real is happening.
03Timeline of Fable 5's Removal and Leaks
Understanding the timeline helps you see why these leaks matter. Julian Goldie walks through the key dates.
- June 9: Anthropic shipped Claude Fable 5.
- June 12 (three days later): Fable 5 was taken down.
- June 24-25: The leaks started appearing.
These dates are all within a few weeks. Julian notes that similar leaks appeared before Opus 4.8 was released. So, this pattern often signals that a release is imminent.
04What the Claude Code String Changes Reveal
The Claude Code string changes are the first and most talked-about leak. Leo spotted them in version v2.1.190. The old string said "Fable 5 purchased separately from your plan." The new string says "you've used your Fable 5 usage for this week."
This is a big deal because it implies two things. First, Fable 5 is coming back. Second, it will be included in your subscription with a weekly usage cap.
This would make it easier for users to access the model without paying extra. Julian Goldie says this is a clear hint, even though it's not official confirmation.
05Amazon Bedrock and AWS Docs Point to Return
The Amazon Bedrock and AWS notices are even stronger evidence. BridgeBind spotted Fable 5 in the Amazon Bedrock model catalog. The page is live and lists the model by Anthropic.
Then ChrisGBT found that AWS docs and model cards also show Fable 5. The lifecycle is marked as active, with IDs like "Anthropic Claude Fable 5" and "Global Anthropic Claude Fable 5." Having three different sources—Claude Code, Bedrock, and AWS—makes it harder to dismiss as just a rumor.
06Why Fable 5's Return Matters for Users
Many users are waiting for Fable 5 to come back because it was very good. Julian Goldie tested models after Fable 5 was removed. He found that Opus 4.8, which was number one for a while, is not as good.
Many other models are actually beating Opus 4.8 by a long way.
But nothing matches Fable 5 yet. That's why the leaks are so exciting. If Fable 5 returns with subscription access, it could change the AI landscape again.
Julian mentions that when Fable 5 was first released, it was only in the subscription until June 22. Now the new strings suggest it might stay permanently with a weekly allowance.
07Potential US-Only Availability and Timing
One open question is whether Fable 5 will be available outside the US. Originally, when Fable 5 was taken down, it was only removed for US users at first. But Anthropic couldn't moderate that well, so they removed it for everyone worldwide.
When it returns, it might be US-only again, or it could be available globally. Nobody knows for sure. As for timing, Julian Goldie expects it to be back by early July or within the next seven days from the episode.
He says all signs are positive, but it's still just speculation.
08How to Prepare for Fable 5's Return
Julian Goldie's main advice is to build systems that don't depend on any single model. He uses the Agent OS, which is part of the AI Profit Boardroom. When Fable 5 was removed, he took it out of the system immediately.
When a new model like Sakana Fugu came out, he added it right away.
He even created a separate operating system called WebOS for Fugu. The idea is to be flexible. If Fable 5 returns, he'll add it back with new guides and tutorials.
