GPT-5.6 is HERE!

GPT-5.6 May Be Government-Gated: What It Means (and Why Systems Matter More Than Models)

The script discusses reports from Axios and The Information claiming the Trump administration asked OpenAI to stagger GPT-5.6’s release, limiting access to government-approved partners during a preview period due to security and cybersecurity concerns, with two federal offices vetting and approving customers one by one and only a hoped-for wider rollout later. It links this to the β€œFable 5” situation where a powerful model was taken down after a few days, suggesting a new reality where frontier US models may be delayed or never broadly released. The speaker weighs pros (safety and vetting) and cons (US competitiveness as Chinese open-weight models like GLM rapidly improve and remain widely available), then advises building workflows as model-agnostic systems so models can be swapped without disrupting work, and promotes an agent operating system offered via AI Profit Ballroom.

GPT 5.6 is here my friends but it's not for us. So what's happened here? This was a new report by Axios that came out today. Basically the Trump administration asks OpenAI to limit the next model release.

Now this is pretty big news. So what this means essentially is that it is limited to government approved partners before any wider release due to security concerns. And if you haven't seen the news already basically we're looking at a new reality here where basically you wouldn't get access to the new stuff that comes out. So if you're wondering for example this is a great article by Silicon Valley and this is not confirmed officially but it is confirmed from some reports for example with the information.

And basically what's happened is the government in the US has asked OpenAI to stagger the release of new models due to the Fable 5 situation. So if you weren't aware of that already basically what happened with Fable 5 is it got taken down after like three days and it was an amazing model but it was great while it lasted and then it kind of disappeared and nobody can access it again. It was absolutely crushing all the benchmarks and creating some amazing stuff. So what we're looking at here as you can see in this article is that we are looking at a situation where GPT 5.6 is only available to a small group of partners.

Now this is pretty wild. I've never seen this before. Essentially what you're looking at is a reality where the US government can say okay you give this model but only to specific people and then it won't be released to everyone until it's fully tested. And so it kind of like runs through a filter first where the US government would approve it then they approve anyone who can use it and then it doesn't roll out to everyone until at least a couple of weeks after and even then it may not get released at all.

And I think this has all come from the Fable 5 situation where Claude's model got taken down. So something that's interesting this is on Thursday apparently CEO Sam Altman told staff that the government will be approving access to GPT 5.6 customer by customer and there's no like open application for this you can't just like say hey I want access to this here's my name here's my details etc. Really what we're looking at is a situation where basically due to the powerful cyber security capabilities of these models especially with MIFAS and Fable 5 as well this would be a staggered release and it's not going to be out for everyone. Now if you look at the notes and again this is not confirmed by Sam Altman this is an article from Axios and also from the information.

So they've said the government apparently in this internal memo from Sam Altman the government would be approving customer by customer access during this preview period with a wider roller hoped for and the keyword is hoped for so there's nothing confirmed that would actually come out later we may never even get access to a level of technology that was the same level as Fable 5 or anything like that and so you know you've got GPT 5.6 getting released it's ready to ship the government check it and there's actually two federal offices that would vet it it would be approved one by one customer by customer and then wider release would be a couple of weeks later if not way longer right and this is really the first time a US model has got a queue you know we used to AI launches being instant GPT 5.5 comes out boom the whole world's talking about it the whole world's got access to it within hours whereas if you look at this situation really this breaks the rhythm and for the first time a major US model is shipping behind a government managed line so apparently what's happening is the really this is probably only going to get access to like cyber security firms right so kind of like Project Glasswing which is where Claude and Anthropic basically said okay not everyone's going to access this model we're going to keep it behind closed doors it's too powerful to release it's too much of a frontier level AI we can't release this to everyone now I'll be honest with you as well like when I was testing out Fable 5 like sometimes it would actually make mistakes so even if this model gets released I don't think it's going to be changing the world anytime soon it may be a big step up from GPT 5.5 but it's not going to be released to everyone and I think this is probably a pattern that we can expect from pretty much every single frontier model that comes out from the US particularly now there's two angles to this number one is like in a way this is good because you know it protects people it protects the internet from any dodgy stuff and everything is carefully vetted before it gets out of control in a way it's pretty bad for the US because if you imagine for example you got like GLM 5.2 which is pretty much Claude Opus 4.8 level if not better if you've got these Chinese models like that being open source being released coming out pretty much every single month so I wouldn't be surprised if GLM 5.3 comes out next month and it's even better than 5.6 so this really is a situation where the US government slows down the models coming out the US but then Chinese open models will probably overtake them if that pattern continues because the models from China are getting better and better they become an open source are available for anyone to download and use their open weight which means you can check out the weights on Hugging Face and how they run and also the whole world at that point could potentially overtake the US now if this just gets released mid-July which is what's hoped that'll be great right we'll get access to GPT 5.6 but if it's a situation where it never gets released and for example like Fable 5 or for example GPT 5.6 never come out to anyone that is a that is an issue like I can see for example you've got these models like opening eye IPO in you've got Anthropic China OPO this year or early next year as well they're going to be at a competitive disadvantage because they're fully gated and what's going to happen is other countries other models other companies will overtake them very quickly because they're releasing their models before everyone unless for example like you've got the US and then you've got Europe and you've got China and they all agree to have some sort of vetting process like that which I can't really see happening because technology is such a big advantage and it's such a powerful way for companies from these individual countries to get ahead now the way that I look at this is that I don't really care about the model so for example a lot of people they make the mistake of like building the workflows all their systems all their automation is around one single memo and then for example Fable 5 goes down and then you can't access it the way that I look at it really is like one system any model so you build your agents on a system not a single model you automate everything you possibly can in your business what you do day-to-day in your personal life and then you can swap the models in and out and really it doesn't matter about the level of technology yeah I mean bear in mind like 99% of people they don't really need like frontier level models they just need something that actually replaces and automates what they do day-to-day so if you create a lot of videos you would have an awesome video agent like we've built into this system if you do a lot of content you would have an SEO pipeline like this if for example you need to stay updated with the latest news in your industry well you probably use something like the Hermes Oracle right these are all systems we've set up inside our agent operating system and then models come in models go out models get dropped models get overtaken and that happens really quickly in technology it's almost impossible to stay up and so I think what is a much better a smarter approach is you have a system and everything else is interchangeable and also this system just improves every single day because you're gradually building better and better workflows I'll show you another example so we have this outreach system here where we can generate leads we just type exactly what we want it generates all the leads all those leads get enriched as well and then we can actually automate the email campaign and we can get the agent to handle our inbox and also our sent items now do I need Claude Fable 5 to do that no is it super useful absolutely and so the way that I would recommend if you if you're looking at this and you're thinking oh I wish I had access to GPT 5.6 I think if it's out of your control don't worry about it at all but worry about have you put the systems in place to automate everything you do because if you haven't there's at least one competitor in your industry probably is and so this is the way that I would look at it by the way it's pretty shocking to see this whole setup and the new reality that we're looking at so really you want to see okay well your system stays and also your system is still going to be relevant in six months whereas for example GPT 5.5 or Claude Opus 4.8 are they going to be relevant in like two three six months absolutely not so that's the other cool thing as well as like you just become better and better at adapting to the new technology changes to the point where you can pretty much ignore stuff that comes out and then if you feel the need to if you're like right I need to step up then we plug it into the system so that's what I'd recommend I mean it is pretty crazy it's pretty wild to see this I saw a lot of comments on my other tutorial about it earlier today and some people were fully fully outraged which is pretty interesting to see I know it's like a controversial topic right now and a lot of people are worried about this but either way if you want a setup that survives and you launch the agent operating system inside the airport for boarding connects Claude OpenGlory and Hermes into one dashboard and then your agents just run on whatever model is reachable and I think that's the most sustainable approach here and you just swap models without rebuilding anything like for example a gated 5.6 comes out that doesn't stop you work if you're waiting for approval doesn't stop you work it just slots in when you finally get access to it now if you want the full system the full agent operating sit the full life coaching course week daily tutorials as launches like GPT 5.6 happen what to do a 30-day roadmap to implement this whole system step by step a community of 3,800 founders across 38 different countries available online 24 7 and a member map to connect with people near you you can get that inside the airport for boarding link in the comments description or just go to the airportforboarding.com and you can get the full agent operating system right here and again like if you actually look at the biggest technology changes here like for example we did a tutorial on the forward slash learn setup which is really powerful if you understand how to use it these sort of systems don't require a front-end model like you could build local models around these sort of systems we actually have a local engine over here and so the cool thing about that is you can run it privately offline locally it doesn't matter what happens next and then I also answer with video tutorials the posts inside the community every single day you have loads of great people inside there that help you too inside the classroom you get access to all our best tutorials you get four weekly coaching calls a week you get the map where you can connect with people locally near you and this is all available in the airportforboarding.com so hope to see you inside there hopefully GPT 5.6 comes out hopefully Fable 5 comes out and gets re-released but I don't have to cross my fingers and worry about it because we have a great system that just improves every day no matter what happens so hope to see you inside there cheers watching, baba
